Stay away from Newquay. It is the only crap place [apart from Land's End] in all of Cornwall. Totally destroyed by greed, avarice and downright bad taste.
For just one day out go to Goonhilly Downs? See all the dishes, Outhar, Merlin, Arthur etc Phone a friend in Australia for nothing while you are there? i went to the eden project, penzance, lands end etc when i was 6 and had the time of my life. cornwall is best when you have a car as everything is so sparse and spread out. i recommend taking them to lands end as theres a theme park that'll keep em quiet for a bit and a playground right near the edge of the sea with a HUGE adventure ship they can run around in, i believe its called ;the last labyrinth' but never been able to find anything about it

also st michaels mount (monastery on an island) near penzance is good for a look, check the tides though. St ives is a really pretty village, go there just for a wander around and to see the boats coming in. lands end is a waste of time.
