I lost a LOT of weight and picked up a great amount of muscle to replace the fat by beginning a controlled diet and exercise program "ON MY OWN". Begin planning what you eat by purchasing sources for a balanced meal. Stay away from Late Nite Snacks! Eat a good breakfast, lunch and lite, early dinner filled with vegetables, some fruit, bread, and a milk product of some sort. DO NOT eat desert! It is so easy to say and so difficult to do. Treat yourself like you are dieing of a major heart condition right NOW! Begin walking and throwing your arms as you walk. Begin with a short walk and build it up over time. I tried to walk at least twice a day and if possible use a set of stairs at a local school or office building to walk in. YOU can do it! It will not happen overnight but it will happen. Have a great holiday with friends and family!!

Swimming is the best because it works all your muscle groups without putting a strain on your joints.

As for a diet, just eat what you know you should eat. And stay away from fast food at all costs. Those are the the worse for adding weight. It's no coincidence that the US has the most fast food places and are also the fattest people in the world. The clown is NOT your friend!

Any exercise, done properly and consistently, will do that. Go see your doctor or a dietician. They will help you work out a diet and exercise plan that will be safe, effective, and doable.
Losing weight comes down to a very simple equation: energy output must be higher than energy input. Eat less, move more.
