My Mum smoked for about 20 years, she died because she couldnt breathe. At the end she was on oxygen 24 hours a day, always connected to her oxygen concentrator. Although she had given up smoking the doctors said the damage was done and that the smoking killed her. Yes its a slow suicide and Im glad I have given up;

Suicide: The act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself.
I Think smoking is not a really long form of suicide. Smokers are addicted to nicotine, that alone is stopping them from giving up. They all know it can kill you. They're intention is not to die. But the addiction is what is keeping them smoking. And making themselves ill.

I think so. There must be some mental instability in people who start smoking. I see how people can get addicted, but I really don't see why you would start in the first place. Its like the awe people have for skinny (dieing-looking) models. It's the morbid fascination of the human race.
Oh and even though not everyone who smokes dies of lung cancer etc., not everyone who attempts suicide dies either.

Yes, it's also a slow form of murder, when women or their partners smoke when the woman is pregnant, and parents smoke in front of their children. They might just as well hold a gun to their child's head and pull the trigger, it would be a lot quicker and a lot less painful.

Depends if the person is asthmatic. Also how much they smoke. My mum is 33, she smokes 7 times a day but she works out in the gym (proper body building type) and she is fighting fit!

Kind of, cos loads of people who smoke die early. If you are thinking about committing suicide by smoking, don't, it will be too painful, and if life is really that bad, then you would want to die straightaway.
If you feel life is meaningless: remember; it is, unless you give it meaning.

I guess it is if you consider that alcohol is a short form of suicide! My grandmother lived to the age of 98, and smoked 40 a day!!! I cannot believe that one single thing causes death. It has to be an accumilation of different things, diet, lifestyle, and mind over matter! Alcohol kills and it ruins millions of peoples lives!! You know the idea behind silent suggestions .... well thats what the advertising on cigarette packaging is .. if you read it enough you believe it!!! I know two people who have died fromlung cancer and neither of them have ever smoked!!!

Good one!
Believe it or not, my Doctor, who had known me since I was born, many many many years ago, smoked 40 cigarettes a day until he retired at 70years old. When he retired he decided to give up smoking........6 weeks later he was dead! The shock to his body, from giving up smoking, was too much!
So the answer is YES.....and NO or POSSIBLY!
