that I didn't attend or respond to. (I know, very rude!) However, they are friends of my sister, and I barely know them. Then, I ran into them at a Christmas Open House. I apoligized for not having responded, and that I was so happy for them, They don't need a present from me, and I didn't attend, but is there anything I can now do, or since I have already spoken with them, just forget the whole thing, and go on with my life???

You must have been raised a Catholic..

Just go on with your life and don't worry about it. You shouldn't even have apologized for not responding as they probably invited you as a courtesy to your sister.

Forget the whole thing.

People send out millions of invitations expecting people to not attend and send a gift. If you didn't feel like you should send them a gift, then don't.

Just let it go.

If you can afford to get them something, then maybe you should. It would be nice. It's obviously bothering you. Maybe you're feeling guilty about it. You're certainly not required or obligated to give them anything, It's not a matter of them needing or not needing a gift, by giving them something it would make them happy, and in return you'll finally get a piece of mind in. But beware.... traditionally, you are a little "belated", you might want to make it a Wedding/Christmas gift. :)

Forget it and move on. If you try to make it up now, it will just look insincere. They will realize that you are just feeling guilty because you saw them and that you would never give another thought about it again if you hadn't seen them.

Maybe they invited you because they thought that it would be rude if they didn't since you are related to their friend. I don't think you did anything wrong either. If you congratulated them and you don't really know them, you've done enough. Don't sit on it and worry.

I believe that the nice thing for you to do is to send a "housewarming" gift. It could be a basket of goodies for the kitchen or if they are foodies, or wine lovers, whatever suits their personalities.

Good luck

You should've responded and sent a gift, despite not going. How very rude.
