It will eventually happen one day.

No. There should be freedom to believe what you wish and worship what you wish. It is not the Christian religion or the bible that causes all the problems but the extremists who call themselves Christian.

If extremist Christians will not tolerate other peoples beliefs or non beliefs then those people should be prosecuted by the state for their intolerance.

It is noticeable that there have been a number of cases this month where authorities stepped in to limit Christian extremism in the US, Canada and UK.

It looks like the authorities are now prepared to consider dealing with the extremists and hopefully this will grow to ensure peace for non Christians and allow the good Christians to get on with their beliefs and worship without the embarrassment of being associated with these extremists and zealots as well.

As a Humanist, I'm a strong supporter of religious freedom. I would not have anyone tell me what I must or must not believe, so, by the Golden Rule, neither would I presume to do the same for others. Just because I have not chosen Christianity does not mean I would try to keep others from following that path. For many, their faith is an essential part of their pursuit of happiness, which the founding fathers of my country acknowledged as a natural and inalienable right.

So, no, no faith or philosophy should be banned, though society has every right to enact laws that protect us from harmful ACTIONS carried out by people, even when they claim those acts are done in the name of their religion.

You mean like it already is in Saudi Arabia and some other Muslim countries? You may soon get your wish! The Bible teaches that there is a time soon coming when a cabal of demon inspired world leaders known in the Bible as the anti-Christ, the beast and the false prophet will deceive most of the world into worshiping this anti-Christ (false Christ), instead of the true God through Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, most of the world is already deceived and will happily go along with this new false religion and will make biblical Christianity illegal, punishable by decapitation (gee, where have we seen that lately?). The events happening now in the world are eerily similar to events prophesied nearly 2,000 years ago. One of the last signs of the “last days” is that scoffers will appear (II Peter 3:4) and mock the second coming of Jesus Christ by saying, "Where is the promise of His coming!?” Christians, look up! Your redemption draws near! Maranatha!

Why in God's Holy Name should Cristianity be banned? The main reason to be here on earth is to try to SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD SO MORE PEOPLE CAN BE SAVED AND GO TO HEAVEN ! That is the purpose of a Christian along with loving one another and helping people who need us along with practicing our faith and worshipping as God wants us to .If someone chooses NOT to believe, that is his/her choice. In the same token if someone wants to be a Christian and practice their faith,WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO DENY THEM?To me that is THE WORST SIN trying to keep people from their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Especially at Christmastime which revolves totally around the Baby Jesus's birth ! I personally think a question like that is ABSURD !! ( NO OFFENSE TO YOU FOR ASKING since it is JUST a question many people have pondered ). People in the Government who have banned prayer from schools and any other religious materials are in MY OPINION PATHETIC !! Think about it.......EVEN OUR CURRENCY ( money ) says "In GOD WE TRUST but they can force other terrible things down our children's throats. My goodness in the Pledge of Alligence......ONE NATION UNDER GOD.....with liberty and justice for ALL.....not those who aren't Christians, right? Our Government has been so corrupt or should I say some of our leaders have been.Look at it,affairs, cheating money, families of Presidents being friends with the World's most Notorious Terrorist,Bin Laden makes me kind of sick.I could go on and on ! Check out a website Bohemia Grove if you want to open your eyes to some of what I'm talking about ! The world is getting so bad I will be happy if Jesus Second coming is soon. Then what will all the ignorant people in the world say to him when he asks why they kept little children from him.To me that is even more of an unforgivable sin because just as people have the right to choose not to be a Christian WE HAVE JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO BE AND LIVE OUR LIVES AS A CHRISTIAN and I think that WOULD INCLUDE THE RIGHT TO PRACTICE WHEREVER AND WHENEVER WE WANT and Children need to be raised in a GOOD CHRISTIAN FAITH ! ! I hope this answers your question and this is solely MY OWN OPINION although I'm SURE MANY FELLOW CHRISTIANS MUST FEEL THE SAME WAY ! I'm sorry if I got A little OVEREXCITED answering but as you can tell this is a very STRONG OPINIONATED SUBJECT !! I hope and pray I didn't insult you because that surely was not my intention. Thanks,GOD BLESS YOU and have a Wonderful Christmas and a Blessed New Year! Very Sincerely,Maxine

Absolutely not.

This would not result in anything you'd be happy with.

Fundamentalism is a reaction to modernism; to people feeling that their reliable absolutes have been challenged. It is largely a reaction to a world, a society, which some people find devoid of meaning.

Fundamentalists feel that they are fighting a battle against forces (scientific rationalism, mostly) that threaten their most basic values. It is a pushing back against modernism.

How much more violent would the push back be, if their expression of eternal certainties were banned?

What a dark cold world that would be without true Christians shining the Light within them, sorry, can't happen. You can't ban a Christians Faith. Where it is illegal, the Faithful go underground and flourish more under persecution, their belief is so strong they will risk their lives and have done so. I would willing lay down my life for the cause of Christ, and have done so.
No Christmas?

Even though Xtianity (esp. the fundamentalist kind) mostly rubs me the wrong way, and, makes no sense to me (though I was raised xtian), I support the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Religion would HAVE to be banned by the gov't (who else would do it?), which would be unconstitutional (unless the "religion" is clearly dangerous...and even then, it's dicey to prove that). I don't want the gov't banning religion any more than I want RELIGION forcing itself into schools, etc.! There should be freedom AND total separation of church and state.

um, i dont think i can do that, cuz christians are a really big part of the population, and if u ban one realigion, u would have to ban them all...which wouldnt be smart, because almost everybody believes in something...and wouldn't be happy with it...

....what i love about US, is that u have all the religion freedom that u wouldnt get somewhere else ;) lol

Christianity has changed so much from once it began,
it's really sad. In the Qu'ran it says true Christians, Jews and Sebains will be allowed to enter the paradise. I don't believe anyone that is a true believer and are a people of the book should not be banned. What happened to one god belief and the idea of not eat swine or drinking boze.

You could ban Christianity but that still wouldn't remove God from the world so what would be the point?
