Okay let's think about this for a minute, Jesus himself never said a word about homosexuality, for or against. The only passage about it, was written by people who lived in a society and community where particular male homosexuality was looked down upon. Technically King James wrote the most famous bible, and he was the one who had a serious problem about it. But anyway, I also to point out while lust is considered part of the 7 deadly sins, it doesn't specify what type of lust, and technically that could cover anyone with either sexual orientation or marital status. The only thing about sex written in the ten commandments was, "thou shalt not commit adultery", that applied more toward a married heterosexual couple.

And I really think things such as blasphemy and murder were greater sins than homosexuality (if that's really a sin). And I know a lot of Christians say no sin is better or worse than the other. But we don't act that way.

may be it is the sin that is being advertised most?

Not all Christians believe that it is.

I belong to a (large) mainstream Christian church, and we don't believe that homosexuals are "less than" heterosexuals.

Just because our religion is over 2000 years old, doesn't mean that our thinking has to be.

to bronx b:
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

I read NOTHING about homosexuality - but one helluva lot about love, peace, joy, and goodness.
Think about it.

jeremy: I know this is always pointless to indicate to people who quote Biblical passages about homosexuality. But, your first instance made me stop reading. If you know so much about the Bible, than you KNOW that God says most clearly that the reason for the destruction of Sodom was due to a lack of charity. And, knowing what Jesus felt about love and compassion, it certainly makes sense that he would feel a lack of charity and goodness would be the downfall.
When you post such INACCURATE things like that, it makes people like me stop reading the rest of what you have written. If you're so terribly terribly wrong about the first one, why would I believe that you know anything about the other things you've posted?
I advise you to stop posting Scripture that you've cut and pasted, and - instead - read the Bible!!!

Every place that homosexuality took place in the Bible was an open invitation for God's wrath and destruction.

Genesis 18 and 19 will tell you about the destruction of Sodom. Which by the way is the origination of the word sodomy. Jesus said in Luke 17:26-29 that in the end it would be like that of Sodom. What did he mean? well, the story of Sodom is all about homosexuality.

then, Romans 1:24-27 talks again about homosexuality and says explicitly that it's a sin...24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 tells us...9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

notice that homosexual offenders is included as a sin. pretty clear there...

Leviticus 18:22 says 22 " 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

2 Timothy 3:16 says that "All Scripture is God-breathed, and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness", so how is it that you can say that the passages that clearly say homosexuality is wrong are not applicable?

homosexuality is an abomination to God, as stated in leviticus, and he has destroyed more than once societies where it was prevalent. the Bible is perfectly clear in what it says about it...

Actually, Jesus never said anything. Jesus never wrote anything. All the Bible gives are secondhand accounts and hearsay recounting of what Jesus said and did. So really, we only have what Paul or Mark or John SAYS that Jesus said or did or wanted you to do.

Just a little technicality I wanted to point out there.

I don't think it is a sin. I believe the men who wrote the bible frowned on a lot of things. I'm not saying all Christians are closed minded judgmental buffoons, but the outspoken rude ones are. The people who tell gay people that they will rot in hell for their sins are the ones God is going to look down on because it is not their place to judge.

I did not read your dissertation, I'm just answering your question. Homosexuality has always been an abomination to God. Lev 18:22; Rev 21:27

Actually you should read Gal 5:19. Homosexuality is within the context of sexual immorality, meaning that is is a sin, along with premarital sex and other sexual depravations.

Homosexuality is not a sin; fornication is a sin.

Why would you think that homosexuality is a sin?

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth.

[19] For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
[20] Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse;
[21] for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened.
[22] Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
[23] and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles.
[24]
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,

[25] because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen.
[26]
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural,

[27] and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.
[28]
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.

[29] They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips,
[30] slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
[31] foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
[32] Though they know God's decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them.
Matt. 19:6 - after referring to God's divine plan for man and woman, Jesus says a husband and wife become one flesh, which ultimately reflects God's union with humanity through the Church. Homosexual unions pervert this divine truth of God’s love for and union with the human race.
