When will they stop searching for the 'reasons' or 'excuses' for why people become overweight? People want to eat McDonalds, sit in front of the computer ALL day, and own all the conveniences that make life easier.
Then they say, "I wish doctors and scientists will figure it out. There has to be some reason for this." But what they mean is, "I wish doctors and scientists can figure it out and make that magic pill so that I can continue to nothing about this on my own because I want the rewards without having to work for it."

I don't mean that everybody will have a model's body. A person can be big and still be healthy.

When people stop blaming others for their problems and look at themselves.
Cigs gave me cancer, sue the cig companies!
McDonalds made me fat, sue them!
And a case in NY state -- two kids enter a train yard at night, climb up on a train and they touch an electric line and get burned. Courts found it was not the kids fault, but actually the trainyard's fault for not impeding their entrance enough. $24 million awarded.
It's never people's own fault. Always someone elses problem.
Basically I'm saying it's societies acceptance of irresponsibility. When society finally says "Hey, you fat ***. It is YOUR fault, YOU figure it out," then it will be solved.

You will, for a while, until your body becomes accustomed to the reduced calorie intake and starts hanging onto fat reserves to keep you alive. Without exercise you won't just lose fat, but muscle tone. There is little point doing things by halves. If you want results, you know what you have to do and that is combine sensible eating with a moderate amount of exercise. Having said that, fifteen minutes skipping on a daily basis is a very good foundation so I certainly would not describe this as no exercise. Don't get so hung up on weightloss - fat loss is what is required. You could lose a stone of fat but gain a stone of muscle. The scales would read the same but all your clothes would fit better, you would look and feel better and you would burn more calories even at rest. Take care

I don't want to look to blame anyone, I understand these people should know, believe, and understand that this IS the safest, most effective way to go. BUT, I also believe society has a lot to do with it. The size "2" models, the TV commercials showing "miracle" pills. People have to change there lifestyles in order for diet and exercise to work. So many people are on the go, running to grab something "quick" to eat, which 9 times out of 10, is fast food.

If people figure that out, there'll be no more questions to answer on this website :)
Oh, except these ones: Am I Pregnant? How Can I Grow Taller? How Can I Make My Boobs Bigger? How Can I Enlarge My Penis? What Are The Side Effects Of Masturbation?
I totally agree with you, anyway. The only weight people seem to be losing these days is from the brain.

I think you pretty much answered your own question. People want to be lazy, they want the easy way out. Not everyone is overweight because of that though. Their are disorders that contribute to obesity, like thyroid problems and such. But people do need to excercise and diet before they give up and put it all on doctors and scientists to help them.

Because thats the way people are. Most complain about not having time for exercise. We have all become lazy to some degree and dont want to accept this until we begin having health issues.

As long as there are infomercials about the "revolutionary breakthrough weightloss drug" that has been "scientifically researched", there will be people who don't realize that adequate exercise and a healthy diet are the only scientifically proven weightloss drugs out there.

People should be responsible for what they eat; if they sit down and eat a big mac and fries; then don't complain about weight gain and society. No one puts a gun to their head when eating.

Actually, it has just been discovered that overweight or obese people have more of a certain kind of bacteria in their intestines than regular or thin people do. Amazing huh? Who knew?
