Only on Y!A do I get an answer that is something gay like Revelations 21:845 or Genesis 328:32r98 or John 3298u32:3289043298 or something horribly gay like that. You know I'm not going to touch that propaganda, so why do you quote it? Knowing full well from my questions that I am an atheist, why, oh why, must you quote the Bible? I don't go around quoting Darwin (and if I did, you'd probably shove John Paul 38:288 in my face or something). And the funniest thing about it? I am a confirmed Catholic...

omg, people... confirmation only means that I was forced by my parents to go to religion classes until I was 14; it's not like I never had faith, cuz I did. but the older you get (for the most part) the wiser you get. I love how all you neocon bible-thumping jesusphreaks all have to quote the bible to get your point through, when in reality, you have no idea the meaning of the words. Pathetic. Especially the ones offended by this; honestly, it was a legit question, but you took offense and started name-calling like 2nd graders. Grow up, Christians. Grow up.

I think it is wise to read the bible, it's good to know how your enemy(fundamentalist christians) thinks. Also, if read with an open mind, it provides an interesting example of the human mind as a whole. I mean the people who constructed this thing, if done with the intent of suppressing the thoughts of the masses, were incredibly clever as the bible, old testament and new ,provides both an excuse to punish others who don't think like you and passages to quote that say " Turn the other cheek",etc., when the unbelievers object.

Confirmed Catholic and Atheist?
I don't think those two positions can rest side-by-side.

I too, am an Atheist.
While I do find it irritating when I ask a question, obviously not believing in the bible, that some people answer with:

"Hey go check out John 3:16. If you read that you'll know why 'God' is good and why you should believe in him too."

I also recognize that some people are very devout and committed to their faiths. I try not to mock the hypocrisy and and inconsistency, lack of proof provided by the Bible and the christian faith; but like Christians mocking atheists for lack of belief, sometimes it is hard.
Most people are a little arrogant in their beliefs because they feel so strongly in them and can't see how someone can believe someone else.

John 3:16

Like the pharasees loudly proclaiming their piety, they think quoting biblical verse displays their sense of holiness and riteousness. As Jesus said, they have already been paid.

I quote biblical passages, but I quote the passage I am referring to, not just the number. Different translations can lead to different or divergent interpretations, and its often better to read the example, if it is relevant.

I am not an atheist, but I can certainly understand why such an option might seem viable, especially reading some of those posts. They are the Christians who walk by those in need and say "why should I help them?" all the while samaritans of all races and beliefs reach down their hand and call people 'my brother, my sister.'

I appreciate your tolerance.

Nice try! You are a Communist, according to your icon pic. The Catholic Church is staunchly anti-Communist, so obviously you aren't very "committed".

Pope John Paul II, along with President Reagan, fought and defeated the Evil Empire of communism.

By the way, how's that whole "revolution" thing going these days? LOL!

I'm a Christian and I hate it when people try to use the Bible in all of their arguments. Just because its our guidline doesn't mean other people like it. But, I'm kinda confused, are you an atheist or a Catholic?

If asked an evolutionist about science, should I get upset if he quotes Mary Leaky? Why wouldn't he? If you ask a Christian some kind of religious, philosophical, or existential question you are going to get an answer from the Bible.

Why not stop asking questions that require a Biblical answer? All your confirmation means is that you are a catholic-period. There are a lot of confirmed people on this planet-and it doesn't matter to anyone.

It's true. Christians are the only Gospel some people will ever see until it's too late. Sorry so many have been ineffective, but it sounds like you've already made up your mind as to where you intend to spend eternity.

Idiot, don't you know that the bible is unquestionable fact? It's written right there in the bible that it's the inspired word of God.
Circular logic is good because you only have to read one book.
