This question is about why men get drunk though... not women!

Well I think the same reasoning behind why a woman gets drunk could be applied to why a guy would so trying to just keep it to the context of men doesn't make sense so any answer that has been offered so far saying that women get drunk too is justified based on the context of your question.
People usually get drunk because a.) they are having fun and socializing with friends, etc b.) they didn't mean to get drunk just drank more then they though they could handle c.) use it to lower their inhibitions so that they are in a sense more comfortable in their own skin e.) have an addiction to it because of the effects it gives them f.) people sometimes use it as a means to excuse their behavior but once again that is usually tied to their lower inhibitions so in that context they are right. e.) they have nothing better to do...I am sure that there may be other reasons but that's all I can think of...

It has got nothing to do with whether the person is a man or not. It comes down to an individual basis - women get drunk too.

All men don't get drunk. But people have their own individual reasons for drinking. Some people just like the taste of beer for instance (but not me). And some people like the effects that alcohol has on them...it makes them lose their inhibitions. Especially if you're in a bar or a club, it often gives people the courage to get on the dance floor and dance or even to approach the opposite sex.

some men use getting drunk as a way of not thinking about the troubles in there life. once drunk some men act different, some men need it to make them more confident to either the opposite sex or just to themselves. while in others they can turn aggresive and nasty at nothing, we are all different, and while i am fully aware this question is about men, women do exactly the same.
we are all human and drinking makes us all different people and it shouldnt be classed as a bad thing as long as it is under control and not physically hurting somebody.

Alot of men fid it hard to express emotion, drinking allows them to do this without feeling so uncompfortable, obviously some women do this to.
I also think the drinking culture is a must for alot of men, peer presure to be a man and handle ur beer and all that.

Women don't ever get drunk. I've never seen any young woman fall over in the street with her knickers on show and puke running down her top.
