I saw some kind of breeds' tail be cut. Why? Every part has it's own function. Tail is very important to dogs, balance, express happy, exciting, fear,...,etc. Why people so selfishnessly cut it? Please give me a point?

tradition and the way the dog looks I guess.

My mom has a German Shorthair Pointer, and trust me, you can still tell when he is happy or afraid :)

Mostly for aesthetics depending on the breed, sometimes for function if the appendage would get in the way of the work that a dog is supposed to do. But nowadays it is completely unnecessary and is considered by many people to be cruel.

Unfortunately, the standards for a number of breeds in the US (Dobermans for exampled) require that the tails and/or ears be docked. But many owners are questioning this and in England the law prohibits docking the ears or tails of any animal for non-medical reasons.

Dogs that get their tails docked are done so for hunting and sport purposes. That is why the hunting breeds and sporting breeds are more likely to have this done over a poodle or shitzu. It has since become the standard for some of these breeds. When a dog is out in the field hunting if they are to wag their tail they would alert the prey they are there to hunt. Small dogs that have docked tails are done so because most of them go into holes to get prey and thus can easily be pulled out by the nub of their tail without hurting them as much.
There is alot of information out there to whether this is wrong or right. For strictly cosmetic reasons I don't feel it is right, but for hunting purposes I can see the means.
I have one dog with a tail and 2 that had theirs docked before I had a say in the matter - all are of a hunting breed.
I can't say whether its right or wrong as that is a personal matter, but I can tell you the dog I have with a tail wishes he didn't. His poor tail has been slammed in many a doors, stepped on, bitten by his brother and sister, pulled by children, caught in a fence - you name it.
The two that have theirs docked both have better balance than the one with a tail, they all show great excitement and fear. It doesn't hinder their personality or their grace.

Tails have been docked for many motives back interior the days whilst maximum of them have been working canines. struggling with canines or shield breeds had their tails docked to ward off injury. Corgis have been in many circumstances docked (and nonetheless are) so as that a cow will no longer be able to step on their tail and harm them Terrier breeds that pass to floor have shortened tails so as which you would be able to pull them back out of the hollow (back, a protracted tail may be injured yet a quick tail makes a manage) As maximum canines are pets presently, docking is elegance. whilst performed properly it quite is painless for the canines (and particular, they might nonetheless wag the nub). some people opt to do it to regulate to the breed's commonplace seem. Others do no longer through fact its unessecary.

To follow the breed standard.

Take Cocker Spaniels for instance, when they were first bred, it was for hunting. The owners used to dock their tails so that no burrs would get caught in them when they went to hunt for game. When the AKC put together the breed standard, the docked tail was a part of it.

Why breeders do it? Well, real professional breeders want to keep to breed standards. That's what the whole point of breeding should be anyway. To improve the breed standard.

The tails of some hunting breeds are fairly thin. If they are not docked they get broken or hurt.

In places where docking has been outlawed, it was found that as many as one-third of undocked dogs received tail injuries before they were two-- some injuries even required amputation.

Tails docked at a few inches long are still waggable and less likely to be injured.

It's usually a working or sporting breed that has the tails cropped. It was done to improve mobility. Those breeds are actually used for work or sport very little these days, if at all. People do it to make them look good. They mutulate their pets for the sake of vainity.

Dogs tails are cut or 'docked' as an aesthetic thing, not medical. There is absolutely no need to get this done especially if it is going to be a family pet. And as for hunting dogs getting their tails docked thats rubbish, how many bloodhounds, bassets, beagles, or fox hounds have you seen with docked tails? My basset was a kennel club hound and did not have her tail docked. And Tyke. Why do you have to be so abusive, theres just no need for that sort of attitude. Maybe docking laws are different in the UK, are you are from Hicksville, the US of glorious A per chance.........?

there are many reason, one is that dogs like pit bulls were used for fighting and "docing" the tail would give the other dog a less chance of grabbing on to it, but some people do it today cause its becoming more of a tridition.

because some dogs were bred to have their tails cut (i dont agree with it) but take a jack russell terrier- they were bred and had their tails cut so when they would go into the holes to trap small animals their owners could quickly pull them out if anything happened to them. (the cut tail makes it less painful to pull on the tail) but w/e hope this helps =)
