I just got one of these and used it 3 times last night and was very impressed. We made french fries, chopped onions and apple slices and looking for creative ways to use it. Has anyone shredded cheese or have any other ideas for this product?

I got mine about a month ago and am also totally impressed with it. Previously I kept a mini food processor on my counter for onion chopping. I love the perfect sized pieces when I chop onion and celery. I also used it to chop the potatoes for potato soup. It made for a very attractive soup because of the uniform pieces.

You can't really shred with it but can do fine dicing or larger cubes of any kind. I saw it or a similar product on QVC. They suggested using it for chopping vegetables for stirfry, tomatoes for salsa, carrots or radishes for salads, celery for recipes, cubed cheese, eggs for egg salad, etc. I did use it for egg salad but it is much easier to use an egg slicer and just put it through in one direction and then the other.

The big question is... When washing it how the heck do you get the little bits of onion out of the fine dicer without putting it in the dishwasher?

Cheese will be very hard to clean off the blades...even if you run it under very hot water, you'll still have to soak it in hot soapy water to remove the oils.

I've used a similar product to dice vegetables for soups, salads (they're GREAT for making traditional Cobb Salad), salsas, guacamole. Anything that calls for diced or chopped fruits or vegetables.

At mattress bath and previous, I have been given a Zylis chopper for 9.ninety 9 and that works super, it has the detachable container on the backside and has a lid for the container lined. The choppers are relatively all the comparable, i admire pampered chef yet they are too high priced on some products, the chopper being one in each and every of them.
