It depends on how many calories you are cutting back on and how much eating you are cutting back on...if it's a healthy cut back meaning you're still eating the minimum of 2000 calories a day and still eating properly everyday....and you exercise and work the areas you want to lose weight in...then yes you will eventually start losing weight....but if you cut back on too much for too long or too soon then you will actually start to retain water and gain water weight...so what ever you do...make sure it's healthy..

Well yes this can be true depending on your age but if you don't have an exercise plan you are more likely also to lose muclse which will be replaced with fat. If you than start eating more calories you will put on more weight than you began with. My suggestion would be to eat less calories but also don't go to low and moderate exercise as easy as taking the stairs, walking more, and get the heart to increase once or twice aweek. This is easy but also a good way to lose weight but keep muscle without putting all your effort into worry....

Technically, yes. If you eat filling, yet low cal/low carb foods, you can lose weight without exercising. I've had friends do it successfully, but it is a miserable diet. They ate about 5 small meals a day, and it consisted of tuna, chicken, and some veggies for carbs, like green beans, green peppers, tomatoes, and asparagus. They only had the veggies with the first three meals, and the last two were JUST chicken or tuna. They never worked out, but still lost weight. But I definitely wouldn't do this. Essentially this is a very low fat, very low carb diet, and doctors will tell you that this is not a healthy lifestyle. And as for my friends, they can't stick to it consistently and end up gaining a portion (albeit not all) of the weight they lost back.

I personally counted fat grams and just walked. Plus..I cut way back on salt(I actually use Morton's Light Salt).....it has a tendency to make you retain water, and also cut back on carbonated drinks.

Essentially, what you have stated is true. If you don't supply your body with nutrients (i.e. if you don't eat) you will lose weight and get skinny.
