Moral courage?...not necessarily...everyone has their own belief systems, or not. The term "higher power" became a politically correct attempt phrase used by AA....which if you are agnostic or atheist the whole program is not very effective. My dad was a raging alcoholic for over 30 years, and tried the whole "higher power" idea, but he failed in this program because he did not believe in a higher power....fortunately he found a group called Rational Recovery...and found great success, as it was based on being rational and responsible instead of relying on a higher power that did not exist for him.

It has nothing to do with "moral courage" what ever that is and its not necessary to personalize it. Think of it this way: There is no higher power. Its just an objective statement about the world, nothing more.

i suppose it is a sign of moral courage to say: i have no higher power
however, it is also a sign this person will have to one day admit: there is a power greater than myself

I believe it is a sign of moral courage to say " I am responsible for my own actions toward others, and I don't blame an imaginary devil for the bad that happens to me".

If that is what you believe, then yes. It is always a sign of moral courage to be open about your beliefs.

Only thing about courage that I know is to go out in public crossdressed. It has done wonders for my self confidence.

usually the people that say they don't have a higher power, don't need one. Religion is only neccisarry when people need hope. if you already have it then you don't need to look to anything else. you have yourself and your life experiences to comfort you.

Yes. At that point, one no longer has any fall back, any excuse. One is fully and completely responsible for themselves, their beliefs, their decisions, their actions, and their consequences.
