Main Street is a fairly obvious choice for the main thoroughfare in a small town. Some streets are named after famous people such as John F. Kennedy BLVD or Martin .Lluther King Blvd.

A huge number of streets are name after the trees that align them such as Elm, Oak, Maple, Sycamore, Pine, etc ad nauseum.

Some just use numbers along with Avenue, .Lane, Street, Boulevard, and Road.
It can get confusing when you have 52nd Street, 52nd Road, 52nd Lane, 52 Avenue all in the same town.

Other names seem to be named after the type of community that people. For example, a Golf Retirement Community might have names like Eagle Drive, Birdie, Lane, Par Court, Bogie Road, etc.

Mostly though, there is some sort of reason for the naming of streets even if they are just numbers.
