If it's just an occasional sneeze every now and then, it's most likely nothing to be concerned about. Cats can respond to allergens like dust just as people would. But if it's consistent, or if the cat's eyes and nose are runny, it could be a sign of a reperatory infection. In that case, you need to get the cat over to a vet.

Every year when it starts to get colder outside, right after people start turning on their furnaces, we get inundated with kitties who suddenly start sneezing. Usually there are no other symptoms. For the most part, these kitties are just fine. The furnace is simply blowing out dust and other allergens that have been trapped in the filter for months after a period of disuse. (Don't forget to change that filter regularly!) Our doctors sometimes prescribe an antihistimine or nasal drops, depending on the severity.

Even kitties in milder climates may start sneezing from random irritants in the air.

If kitty is sneezing only, chances are it is nothing to worry about. I always recommend a trip to the vet just in case as it is impossible to diagnose over the internet. If there are other symptoms such as ocular or nasal discharge, congestion, lethargy or decreased appetite, then you're looking at something more serious.

Well, what do you mean by a lot? If you mean when people come over they say, "Wow, you're cat is really sneezy" you need to at least call you vet and do some research. But, our cats always sneeze occasionally and sometimes they get colds and sneeze worse. But do some research and consider taking your cat to the vet.

Cats can get colds, just like humans. But the fact that she’s been doing it for months leads to a deeper reason. Time for a vet trip, my dear. Try and think if you have introduced anything new into the environment about the time your kitty started sneezing. It could be new piece of furniture, a new cleaner or air freshener, or even new perfume for you. Kitty could be allergic to something.

Cats sneeze due to fungal/dental infections, viruses to the nasal passage, allergies and even asthma. So I suggest you sent your cat to the vet.

Most likely she has a URI (upper respiratory infection). Does she have any nasal discharge when she sneezes? Coughing? How long have you had her? Where did you get her-the"pound" , pet shop, breeder? Is she up to date on her vaccinations, feline "distemper". Have you ever had her checked for Feline Leukemia, FIP, or feline aids? I would do that immediately. Feline aids in not contagious to humans.
