Within all living things there are three things. The Spirit, Soul and Body.
The Spirit is the unending part of us. The life force that binds us together. It is our strength and our inner power that keeps us going.
Spirituality allows us to discover that inner strength.That inner strength is Faith. That Faith keeps us going and helps us deal with life's trials and tests. That Faith is our spiritual connection to the world we live in.
When we don't nurture that faith and fill our spiritual selves with the needs of the spirit, we suffer. Without that faith terribly damaging illnesses set in. I'm not saying Illnesses like AIDS. I'm saying Things like Melancholy, severe depression, self loathing and self destructiveness.
We need to keep our spiritual selves healthy. How do we do this?
We create a path to use our faith. This is a personal path, it belongs to each individual. Some use religion to fill the spirit. some use activities or family. some use work or invention. It is absolutely personal, how you as an individual use your faith.
The Spirit connects to the physical in three ways.
Through Faith, Devotion and Love.
But that is next weeks teaching.

Spirituality is the search and the experience of our true essence, based on the premise that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Much of what we experience is based on illusion and spirituality is the search for the Truth of our being and the experience of that.

To grow mentally and spiritually so we can overcome the animalistic tendencies of the subconscious mind; so we can become the best human beings we can be.
That is what true Jihad in Islam is about (a spiritual struggle)

To put it simply our spirituality is our lifeline and connection with God, as He is Spirit then it follows that we must connect in the spirit with Him.
