Where does fear even come into play? The scriptures are a message of love and peace. Fear is for the wicked, the righteous rejoice. Hell is for the Devil and his angels btw never once does the bible speak of a human going there. The Bible does speak of a Lake of fire and brimstone whose flame ascendeth up forever for the wicked that won't repent. this is figurative of your conscience which shall condemn thee and burn thee and cause thee great anquish of spirit in this life and the life to come if we repent not and rely upon the merits of Christ.

yes

they may not believe in a burning hell, like the jehovazzwitnessessess who bleeve they will either go into an "everlasting cutting off" live for ever on a paradise earth or if you just happen to be of the hundred andforetyfourthousand then you can go to haeven. the point is there are those who do not beleeve in a burning hell and they accept some kind of religion so thay can get some kind of a reward

In a nutshell? Yes. Think about it. Why do people congregate in any social circumstance? Because they are afraid and want protection from something -- often just the rigours of facing the unknown. It is no different with those who congregate under the banner of the "Christ". They want to believe that something "easy" can protect them from the hard work of looking deep within, and working out their demons. In my experience, nothing "external" can do that. I have been placed on this journey, and I am the only one who cah answer the questions I was put here to answer. Hopefully, my searching can help others, if I share it.

Other than sharing what we learn from our journey, what would you say religion offers?

Any religion that exists simply to promote a divine penal system would attract as many followers as a prison attracts guards when they post openings.

Religion is meant to provide supernatural comfort for everyday problems and situations. Because some victims cannot be satisfied, as such, on earth, Hell was created in an attempt to 1) give comfort to them (since the faith in such means that their enemies will not escape) and 2) justify the earthly practice, since one could argue one is doing 'God's will' on earth, as it is in heaven.

Where it fails is that, even on Earth, people sentenced to life in prison eventually leave (even if it means by dying). Because no such counterpart is understood spiritually, it creates an illogical assumption that hasn't been addressed. A god that counts each hair on your head, but who suddenly loses track of thousands and thousands of people in 'hell', has more wrong with them than just a bad temper and a coercive set of rules.

Absolutely NOT !! Religion is having a blind faith ,worshipping ,praying ,living a Christian life because God permits the Holy Spirit to enter into us,calling each of his Children by Name. We are ALL GOD'S CHILDREN if we accept the love of THE FATHER and believe in HIS SON JESUS CHRRIST who gave his LIFE for OUR SINS so we may have everlasting life.I feel REALLY SORRY and PRAY for ANYONE who doesn't have FAITH and is NOT A CHRISTIAN !What would there be to live for if not to Love one another as HE COMMANDS ?I pray anyone who feels this way can be reached through a Fellow Christian or Pastor! Hope this helps !

Religious form is a poor substitute for relationship. Why force yourself to go through the motions when a heart-change is waiting? Unless a man is born again, he can not see the Kingdom of God (John 3).

religion per se is of very little importance.
what is important is YOUR personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
don't get hung up on "religion".
please read John 3:1-16

Not all religions believe in a Hell. For example, Jews (or so i believe) do not believe in a hell. (i could be wrong about that example though).

You should be afraid of going to Hell, Why wouldnt you want to go to Heaven? The Lord gave me new hope in this evil world, saved me from my sins...Going to heaven and not Hell is an added bonus.
