I am home all day and they get plenty of attention from me and my two kids and the two I baby sit for. They are only 12 and 20 months old. My older one doesn't do anything anymore and I can leave him out when I go out once in a while. The younger one is the one who did the damage and it was the first time I left her out while I was gone cause if they behave I don't want to have to stick them in a kennel when I go away. I would rather let them be able to walk around and be out to protect the house if for any reason it should need it. I found out that day that she was not able to be out until she can behave. What is wrong with some of you people. Dogs can get into things even when they have responsible owners. I have and do train my dogs but some just take a little more time than others. And TYKE sounds a awful lot like GoGetEm ! Your just a jerk!

I would say pit bulls (ours is half pit, half husky/shepard)- we got ours at the humane society as a 4 month old puppy- was returned twice by other famlies before we got him. The reason they returned him? They said he bit (he has NEVER tried, but his big flappy mouth sometimes grazes teeth over your hand in his excitement). He is a bundle of tail wiggling love and will flop on his belly with even a mildly harsh word.
We think they returned him because they tried to have him as an inside dog. We have him outside by the barn(kennel w/ shelter, gets run of the yard at least 4-5 hrs a day). I couldn't even imagine him in a house. He has eaten though part of the aluminum on the side of the barn, chewed through a block of wood, likes to hide all of our shovels, shoes, you name it. He has a heavy duty horse jolly ball- which he ripped off the handles and tore a huge hole in the first day. He also can snap through a cow leg bone (one of those treats you can buy) in about 2 seconds flat. Our indestructable dog frisbee? There are 3 pieces left lying in the pasture somewhere.
He has to be the most destructable dog in the world, but, like you, we would never trade him for anything. His loyalty is unmatched and is great with all of the kids that come over to visit us.

Well I had a boxer and she was the most gentle and smart dog. I always make time for her. The guy who gave her to me said she was tearing stuff up too. Funny, a little attention, and the only thing she tore up was them big pork chops I gave her. lol. Apparently the tearing up of things is in the dogs first year. Also continuation is just a call for attention, believe it or not. I would call a Pit Bull , most destructive according to statistics as mauling the most humans.

The dog without any training. Any dog of any breed can be well-behaved, just as any dog of any breed can be destructive. It is all about the time and commitment you put in to their training. Nuisance behaviors are confrontable and fixable, even if your dog has been destructive for some time. I would say your dogs, being Boxers, probably need some more exercise and playtime. That is usually the culprit for annoying behaviors such as what you have described. Just my guess.

Any dog can be well mannered with proper training. I have a boxer that is an angel, but I'm firm with her to let her know I run the house. If I had to choose a particular breed that's overly energetic, I would say Dalmatians!

Any untrained dog where the owner doesn't set rules, and lets the dog get away with bad behaviors.

Added:
Some of the most misbehaved - destructive dogs I've ever met were small "foo foo" dogs that their owners constantly coddle, let them get away with anything and everything, and treat them as though they're human babies.

i have to agree with kyla g. the border collie can be extremely destructive when bored.bear in mind this is a high energy dog,and very intelligent to boot.little wonder most of them are kept outside.i have one, and hes been good ( no major messes) but he has alot of potential, like a nuke.

In the wrong situation, I'd have to say Border Collie - intelligence paired with endurance equals problems.

A really bored Border Collie...

It's like giving a young child matches when one leaves a BC bored and unchallenged.

I agree with those that said border collies, they need to be stimulated or will be destructive. Their intelligence causes them to find things to do.

humans. but if you're talking dogs, any destructive dog is usually of owner neglect. why do you leave your dogs out where they can do these things, don't you know that it isn't safe for them. would you leave a child alone who kept climbing up on the counter and could fall and hurt themselves.

as for the pit bulls and rotties answer, seriously stop the spread of ignorant hate about this breed. sounds like your dogs will turn on you just from being tired out you being stupid
