Try the Christmas ornament on skis. I think that will work. And maybe include a small book about skiing.

If he doesn't already ski, and you are on a budget, you should get him a one day package of: Lift ticket, rental and lesson. Make sure that if you buy it ahead of time, that it can be used on a later date. Do this at a small inexpensive mountain. If he is going for the first time, it doesn't matter if he is on the bunny slope of a small 5 trail hill or on the bunny slope of a huge resort. Many of these ski places have gift packages that they sell. They basically give you a certificate for later use. If they don't offer an actual gift package, just make your own certificate on your computer and give him that. Then when you go to ski, his voucher is a reminder that you will pay for the outing. In general, one of these lift ticket, rental and lesson packages usually cost less than $100. Have fun.

Here is a link to a cool on-line ski "store"...they have lots of oddball and interesting things. It is probably too late for this year though as far as shipping goes. Some of it is pricey, but they do have some smaller, affordable stuff:

My wife had a t-shirt screened with a calendar photo of a skier once, that was pretty neat.

Calendars, mugs, posters...skiers appreciate those things. Helps remind us of where we should be (on the mountain!)

Go to snowbird or alta. try their websites and see if there are any packages that you like. they always give you great deals like staying in a hotel and skiing free.that sort of thing. as far as "giving" it to him on christmas, just give him the lift tickets, or give him a card telling him where you two are going. guys don't really care how they get a present. they just care what the present is.

Most resorts have gift cards now. Go and put enough money for him to purchase a beginner package. Which would give him a lift ticket, rental, and a lesson at a discounted rate. Lift tickets are rarely sold in advance and are only good for the day of purchase. Get a gift card to a small local hill for him. Then he can go whenever it is convenient. You should go with him to and make a date out of it.

Why not buy him an airplane ticket to Colorado? (Just be sure to buy yourself one too) That way you both can go skiing in real white powder.
