If you're asking how someone should go about SEEKING a pardon from a Governor, it should be a well written letter. A pardon is surely not guaranteed. But it may be a good attempt to clear one's name from something/anything done against society

Start writing letters to your governor explaining why you think you should be pardoned. Only deserving individuals get such a thing. If you were rightfully convicted, and have only recently finished serving your sentence, you aren't likely to get one. Part of the consequences of having committed and been convicted of a felony are the social hardships you endure.

If the plea for a pardon does NOT include a compensation claim this MAY assist in colouring judgement affirmatively.

Additionally considered is how such granting may affect similar cases to yours and the resultant fallout that might ensue if yours creates a precedent.

Pardons are not easy to get and if the person is still alive then there has to be very good evidence that the person was not involved in the crime he or she was convicted of.
If the person is dead then some times they are granted if a very strong plea is presented.
