My hasband and I just purchased a brand new matress set. Within two days of owning it, our cat urinated right on the mattress. I have tried a vinegar/water solution but it really hasn't done much. I also know cat urine is especially hard to get out, but I can't take the mattress back and I don't want to get stuck smelling it every night. Can you please help?

Hi there...consider Nature's Miracle Just for Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

Yes, go out and buy some "20 Mule Team" made by Borax. You can find it in the laundry aisle- its in a bluish cereal-box-shaped box.

There are directions on the box on how to use it to get out urine stains and pet urine stains from mattresses. The thing with cat's urine is that you have to have a neutralizer, which this stuff has. I believe the instructions say to dampen the mattress then pour the powder directly on and rub it into the mattress. I used it all the time when I had pets and it worked great.

the biggest difficulty is the mats, no longer the smell. i might have a expert groomer manage the raveled fur, through fact it possibly ought to be clipped and can't be brushed out. If the cat isn't socialized nicely with people and could no longer tolerate a groomer doing this, then having a vet sedate the cat and then trim the cat to do away with the mats may be suitable. a shower can take place on the comparable time to do away with the stink. Tomato juice isn't the therapy of determination of urine smell - it quite is used for skunk smell and there are relatively greater suitable approaches than tomato juice for that. thank you for rescuing - greater people ought to become in touch.

Check the pet aisle at the grocery store, or go to a pet store. Typically, any cleaner specially formulated for pets has the correct enzymes to get rid of the nasty urine smell AND helps keep the cat from going there again. I've used several, they all gave similar (good) results and not a single one stained or damaged anything I used it on.

Don't use any ammonia-based cleaner, because it'll make the cat attracted to that spot as a bathroom -- ammonia smells like pee to cats.

Try extra strength alcohol mixed with a little water. Spray it on several times over as many days.
Also, if I were you, I would purchase one of those plastic mattress covers that zip up, so in case your cat does this again, it won't damage the mattress. These covers are really inexpensive.
Good luck.

Go to the pet store, there are enzyme cleaners that can help with that. There is also a Urine-Gone formula I have seen at Bed Bath & Beyond. I know some people that swear by it.
