Not always. For some its beauty, for others is fame and popularity, for others it is power, and for some it is lust.

It just sometimes takes money for some to obtain these things.

Money is the root of all evil when the love of it comes before the love of god.
Money is the root of the deadly sins or in our teachings "evil needs".
Greed, Jealousy and Hatred all stem from the love of money.
Money becomes the most important thing in life. above god and above logic.
People kill over it, they steal it and they sell people for it. They put the need of money above family, friends and others.
When they do this, money becomes the root of all evil.

Money and other attractive temptations are not the root of all evil. The root is in the disobedient heart. He, who ignores the biddings of the One True God, can do any bad things to satisfy his own desires. We cannot purify the world by discarding money and gold, but by accepting the Messengers of God and observing the divine laws They revealed in the Holy Books.

No, actually...it is the LOVE of money that is the root of evil. Money itself is incapable of any action at all, right? It takes that wonderful aspect called the human touch to make anythin inanimate evil.
Peace!

Money like guns is amoral. Not evil or good. What people do for it and with it may be evil and for some it can be a temptation and for others it can become a god. For me I think it can be used for good and I say the more the merrier.

Only if you enjoy misquoting the Bible. The verse you refer to is "the love of money is the root of all evil." Note, not the money itself, but the love of it. In short, it's a prohibition against making money your idol instead of worshipping God.

That's a common misquote from the bible.
I Timothy 6:10 " For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." (NASB ©1995)

Perhaps that will help clarify your question for you.
