I own a towing company, and it varies from state to state. In Illinois you will be billed for the tow, storage ($35/day), and after 2 weeks the towing company can get a title for your car. That doesnt let you off the hook, they can still keep charging you storage as long as they want, and if they want to pursue it they can get a kind of lein put on you liscense, and when you need to renew it, you wont be able to. Best thing to do is call them and just say, the car is only worth X- amount, and see if they would be willing to work with you, maybe in trade for the title. Trust me, they dont want your old junker sitting around either.

The tow company can put a lien on it and sell it to pay the storage fees....If they dont get enough to cover their fees...they can go after the last registered owner/s and ask for payment on the balance...if it's not paid you can be sued..and tow companies do sue.

They charge you a fee per day, then after a certain amount of days, they auction your car off to recover the costs, and the registered owner is billed for the rest of the amount.

You will be likely billed for its disposal and 'administration costs' as well as towing costs. Best thing is to phone them and ask!

it will run a storage fee so high you wont be able to pay and the yard will end up keeping and crushing or parting out the junk.if it doesnt run then your probably better off it will cost more than its worth to bail it out

They charge you for each days its there. If you don't want it anymore, just sign the title over to them and that would take car of the fees.
