OK here's the story I have a female cat of 11 months now. This is her first litter, and she has only just given birth to one at 5:30AM. She still has about five more to go. But it's been nearly four hours now, and she has not given birth to any more. She is not crying in pain she is just sleeping. Is this normal, or should I worry. I have already taken her to the animal hospital, and they said she was fine, but that was when she just started labor. Should I take her back, or give it more time? I mean how much time do they usually take? Thanks in advance for any info.

A baby can last about 2 hours in the birth canal before they suffocate. Take her back to the vet and let them know you are very worried and they will probably induce her labor for the rest of them. My cat had a kitten about every 30 minutes-hour. Good luck.

11 months old is a early age for a Cat to have her first litter. She has not fully matured yet. Take her back to the vet and tell them what has been going on. A kitten can only last 2 hours before suffacating.
Good luck!

My biggest worry would be her age. Your mother cat is still a kitten herself and really should not be going through this. I would suggest going back to the vet because she is at great risk for complications. I’m sorry to say that if she’s only given birth to one kitten over three hours ago then it’s likely that one, if not all of the kittens, may be in trouble. I say you go back to the vet.

jmiller is right...my kitten is one of four in a litter that took three days to birth. The mother is fine, the kittens are fine, too. As long as the mother seems fine, don't worry. If she seems to be in distress, call your vet. Otherwise let nature take its course.

I would take her to the vet they may have to give her ahot ot induce labor and make it stronger or a c-section. My cat did the the same thing too. But she just quite all togather. 18 hours later she began labor and had her other two.

I would give it more time and nature should take its toll, but if you start getting worried or think something is wrong, take her back to the vet immediately.

She's fine. A lot of cats can take 2-3 days to deliver all the kittens.
Please remember to have your cat spayed soon, so that she doesn't continue to reproduce.
Happy Holidays, and have fun with your new kitties.
