No. OTC meds will not make you heal faster, but they can make you feel better, and prevent secondary bacterial infections due to post-nasal drip. An expectorant can help prevent secondary bronchitis and pneumonia.

Take what you need, drink plenty of fluids, and get plenty of rest. Try to eat when you can.

You cannot take medication for a viral infection. A virus must run it's course, as opposed to a bacteria that can be gotten rid of with antibiotics.

Of course, you can find relief from viral symptoms. It won't make the virus go away any quicker but at least you'll relieve some of the symptoms.

No, it can't help you get better faster, but it usually makes you feel better as the body creates antibodies that helps fight viruses.
These infections are, in most cases, self limiting.
