Did someone ask you to do her own memorial when she dies, or is she requesting that you do a friend/relative's memorial in the very near future?

If it is for her own memorial, she should write down any special requests she has for her funeral and provide copies to her next of kin and anyone who might be involved (e.g., you, any clergy, funeral home if she's selected one, etc.).

If it's for a friend, she is probably grieving, and unlikely to think of such niceties as a written request. The verbal request is adequate.

I would suggest you have some type of written agreement outlining the terms that you both sign. This is called a "meeting of the minds".

At a minimum, there should be a description of the memorial, a date that it would be complete, and when/how you will be paid.

Good Luck

That decision is between you and the asker. You don't have to "draw up a contract of aggreement" unless it's required by the asker. Now, I've heard of everything.

why? are you planning to sue her if she wants to back out of it? if doing this will cost you money, then you should consider it, but it really sounds like you don't trust her.
