If you do not have a card reader slot in your computer already. Perform the following:
1. Turn off your camera
2. Take your card out of your camera
3. Go into an Office Max, Best Buy, or Circuit City
4. Show the folks there your card
5. Ask them for a USB2 (make sure it is a 2) reader for your card
6. Take that back home and plug it into a USB2 port (look for the same shaped connector)
7. Put the card in the reader
The rest works like magic.
1. Explore on your computer to create a new file folder
2. Rename your file folder for your photos (example: Beach062007)
3. "Open" the file folder on the card in the card reader
4. Select all the files
5. Drag them over to the file folder on your computer
6. After you have checked that the pictures are all over in the file on your computer, you can erase them off your card
7. If you have an additional drive, like an extra hard drive, you may want to back the files up by copying them to that hard drive too. Hard drives crash and die.
Best of luck.

There are at least two ways. First, your camera probably came with a USB cord to transfer pictures ... check that out and read the camera's manual to be sure you do things correctly. Secondly, many new computers actually have memory card slots built into the fronts of them. If yours is like that, just slide the card into the right slot and your in business.
If you're going to print some of the pictures, many newer printers can take the memory cards directly, without using a computer at all. I have a new Epson, and it's got all the different size slots right in the front. I don't need any camera or wires to edit and print photos!

If your computer doesn't have the slots already mentioned a card reader is relatively inexpesive, plugs into a USB port, and is way faster than downloading from the camera. Using the camera to download will almost surely require a battery charge afterwards, which you avoid using a reader.

You have to have a cable that you plug into the camera, then plug it into a svport on the back of the computer. Click on pictures in the document file ,turn the camera on and click in the picture menu to get pics from the camera.
