Yes..A co-worker won 1.2 million (US) in the CT lottery. He was 22 at the time. It was a 20 year payout. After taxes he had about 50K a year. That was a lot of money the first few years but after 5 or 6 years his peers were making more money working. When the money ran out he opened a candy store. A sorry ending for a 22 year old millionaire!

Yes. Me! =) I went to the Big Spin in California's Lottery in the early 90's.
The Big Spin is a scratcher game where if you match 3 "SPINS" you go on TV to win a $ amount. I didn't win much ($25K), but it still paid for college. The good thing was I only had to pay Federal taxes on it; the State cannot tax lottery winnings. Oh, and I only paid $1 foe the ticket.

My aunt works for the Maine state lottery and I've met lots of people who have won the big jackpot. One couple drove down from the most remote part of Maine in their old clunker of a station wagon to pick up their millions, and told us they were headed out to buy a brand new car!

Yes.
I know 2 people who won million dollar jackpots.
Both were men I worked with, and one retired immediately and the other is still working, but part-time.
I have won 500.00 playing the lottery and smaller amounts over the years.

My husband's grandmother wins all the time. She plays often, though. She hasn't won any life-changing amount, but a couple hundred every now and then.
I also know someone who won a multi-million dollar lottery. I didn't know them well. I went to grammar school with him, but haven't spoken with him since then. His family definitely deserved to win. I was happy to hear about it.

I heard about a story. //// CND$20,000,000.00 +++
Being in Canada and among the minorities, we like hearing about people of our own ethnicity/background.
There is this Filipino guy. He was surrounded by bad-luck charms. He was really not in a stable state - financially.
His luck turned around. He won the lottery. He helped some of his relatives. Plus, he got a really big house.
* Lovely story - I wish I were the one who won.
