It does seem that way but it does not mean we have to follow the crowd.
I think that Television has made us immune to a lot of feelings in most cases. Between all the bad news we see, the violence on any given TV program etc.the constant showing of material stuff bringing happiness I think our sensitivities are numbed. Sometimes some people think that if they can just have a bit more of this material possession or that then they will find happiness. It never turns out that way though. There are millionaires who live in mansions that are still not happy. Happiness comes from inside by being true to yourself.
I think it would be nice if we all could care a bit more about one another, have more patience and try to love one another even with all the faults in the world.

I am tempted to say yes, because I feel that our superficial nature is unbearable. However.. I do believe that Victorian times may have been far worse, with aristocrats just basically leaving a life of etiquette and pomposity.
In any case, I don't understand where humans went wrong. Today's bling craze makes me feel like an alien most of the time.

Yes I believe people are more superficial today, and I think it has alot to do with society saying that we have to have these perfect bodies and for the "beautiful" people it just inflates their ego's even more.

Oh my god, so totally not. Only a poor person would ask a question like that. As I sit here eating my Balouga flakes cereal that has been prepared by my private cereal scooper Niav, I laugh at your question. You need a hooby, you could always come a polish my 2006 Mercedes (I need it clean, it has to go soon b/c it is almost 2007 and I can't been seen driving last years model, as if). Anyway, people are not superficial, poor people just hate on us and need a word to describe our way of looking down on them, how tragic. Oh, time to go, my personal driver..umm...driver guy is here to take me to the polo match, ta ta!!

Yes. no one seems to be able to accept themselves. Which translates into superficial and fake.
I know many of these kinds of ppl. It's like they have no self confidence or self esteem and feel inferior to others...pretty sad if you ask me.

Yes! People today are more intelligent, more knowledgable and more smart. Yet the most detrimental thing about them is the choices they make.
