Scientology? Has nothing to do with Science. The meaning of Scientology (like all other organized religion) is to make money.

L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer. He created an elaborate story, with elaborate heirarchies, rituals and rules to create a controlling, self perpetuating cult.

The general principles I think you can find on wikipedia. There was an alien race that was fleeing from some evil general and they came to earth and landed in people's bodies. I think it's like a soul, but the soul is really an alien and you live more than once in human form.

Scientology is the art of removing large amounts of cash from the pockets and bank accounts of the less than intelligent people who are sucked into the cult. It IS a cult. It has NO religious tenets, no creed, no higher power to worship. It is based upon the science fiction writings of a sharp scam artist. members pay large amounts of money to be hooked up to a machine that supposedly tells them how screwed up they are and for more money and more hook ups to this machine, they might be cured. Salvation means nothing, cash coming into $cientology means everything. The $cientologists at the bottom, the ones who are genuinely trying to do something positive are there to improve themselves, rid themselves of the dead aliens that cling to them holding them back. They aim to free themselves from these being and become "clear". I don't think salvation describes it. Salvation is a christian notion made up to convince the masses that the people need the church. Really the best thing you can do is ask a scientologist who is genuine. Not necessarily the ones on here as they just manage the online PR really. Find a forum and speak to them directly, the people here are not so easily suckered.

Happiness, exhilaration, depression and psychosis are states of mind, not diseases. All what you have to do to stop being depress is change your state of mind. How you do that? By changing your ideas and considerations. Scientology provides the tools to achieve a better state of mind in accordance with your own point of view.

Scientology earns it's money by delivering courses and auditing. Courses and auditing are optional. You do not need to take courses and auditing to be in Scientology. All you need to do to be a Scientologist is to read the books and apply Scientology to your life (like I do). But if you want auditing there are many alternative and economical ways to achieve this.
a. You can do volunteer work in your local church and get your services for free.
b. You can study to be an auditor and perform all your auditing with a fellow student. This way you can also provide free services to your friends and family. This is actually the preferred way to become clear because you learn how to helps other. Scientology isn't about you going clear but taking responsibility across all your dynamics (self, family, group, humanity, life, ect).
