Let me guess, it's satan's fault, right? Couldn't be god's fault, even though he created satan, could it?
(don't try to blame the mother, Down's Syndrome is a genetic disorder, not the result of the mother's behavior while pregnant)

People just keep trying to explain this one and it just isn't going to get throught to some people no matter what you do.

Wow: I guess some people are actually bringing out original sin.

Did Jesus not die on a cross for that? I mean If the only reason Jesus died on the cross was so we wouldn't have to sacrifice animals, what's the point of that. I wouln't mind sacrificing an animal to god if thats what he wanted. You wouln't eiher if it was something you did all the time.

I have actually asked why me when I had a disabled child and never have I thought it was satan. I think there are many reasons these things happen, we are not exactly great stewards of the planet and as Solomon said "timing and chance happen to us all". My son doesn't deserve autism he just has to live with it. In life I have found there is usually a trade off and one day the why will become clearer to me but until then I will get past the why and work on the what to do about it...Down syndrome kids seem like a problem to society but the ones at my sons school make me feel like maybe we are the ones that missed out sometimes.

No Down's Syndrome babies don't "deserve it" because they sinned or for any other reason.

No it's not Satan's fault, either. It's not a fault of God. Genetics are the underlying cause of Down's Syndrome.

It is not a parental fault. It is caused by various and independent underlying factors some of which include rubella during pregnancy, toxic overload, stressors during gestation and etiology (causation's) yet unknown.

It's easy to be bitter over the birth of a Downs child. However, it is not quite the issue it once was because it is better understood. With the right training persons with Down's Syndrome lead fairly independent lives that are fulfilling and contributory to society and include employment and marriage nowadays.

Try not to affix blame. God and man didn't "make" it happen. It just happened. You may never know the actual reason for it.

Are you even listening to yourself? How can a baby that has not even lived or does not even know what is going on in the world sin? Does not even know what sin is?

Second of all if a parent has sin that curse cannot be passed on to the generation. The Bible says that everyone is responsible for their own sins. Who is to blame, yes I know you don't want to hear it but the Devil is responsible. If a person is sick or they are born crippled, God does not get any glory out of that. That's why God made humans that are doctors because he wants people to get well, those that don't have faith can go to the Doctors, those that have can just ask for healing from God.
If a person is well and not sick or crippled and even having down syndrome then God gets worshiped and praised but if not...... So your question is not even logical.

Whose fault is Down's is not the real question is it? The real question is why does evil or bad things exist--The age old question of evil? First, this is a very difficult topic for a blog, but would love to continue our discussion by email. But for now, if we believe the Bible tells us that God knows all things and God is only good--which I believe it does (See Sources). Then I must believe that God knew the baby was going to be birthed with Down's. Did God cause Downs--of course not. Does this make God responsible because He knows or has the power to change it--No. From God's perspective the child with Downs is a precious jewel no different than you or I, he/she will still be blessed and able to fellowship with God. There are too many answers for why evil happens (original sin, present sin, free-will, etc), but ultimately we must see evil not as a thing or act, but more of an absence or void of God. Whatever answer we choose, ultimately those answers never come to the logical or spiritual conclusion of God as causation if seen from God's perspective as presented in the Biblical Text, For He is Sovereign and Redeeming, not for our understanding, but for His Glory and Purpose.

Feel better?

Children born with Down's Syndrome are some of the happiest children that I have seen. I have never seen a depressed Downs Syndrom person. Sad, yes, that they will live with this their entire lives, but look at the good that can come from it.

Conditions such as this generally bring families and communities together and bring out many good qualities.

Not sure what brought on your rant, but as the mom of a bright, beautiful little boy with Down syndrome, I can tell you that I believe he is a gift from God. He has an innocence and purity about him that I've never experienced before. He is not hostile (like you) and he will grow up to live a relatively normal life. Will there be challenges?? Of course, but God made my son in His image, just like anyone else and when I look at my son's face, I see a small glimpse of Heaven.

Babies born with Down's Syndrome were placed on earth to teacher others about human kindness. Down's babies are beautiful and need to be taken care of with the upmost care. They make/teach the grown ups around them to be better people.

Babies born with down syndrom could be a product from this poisoned planet we call earth. Or it could be a defect in DNA that a parent has handed down through ancestors. Or? It could just be part of God's unexplainable plan for the child's life. Who knows? Would knowing make the child any less different?

The child we get is the child we are supposed to get. Be they "normal" or not. The child with Downs Syndrome, or Autism, or any other birth abnormality is given to use, so that we may fulfill the promise to love and nurture that we gave that child the moment it was conceived.
There is no other reason.
