I look for a dog that appears to hold it's head high and have sad eyes. Not a dog that looks like it's too timid or too agresive.

I really don't look for anything in particular. Someone always just catches my eye. I'm not really a small dog person, or a Pit person so those dogs I generally blow right past. But that's just me. Others like the Pits and little dogs and blow past the large breeds.

What do you mean you"...need to see who we need to put up on Petfinders?" Are you a rescue organization or shelter worker?

If so, I would recommend putting ALL your dogs on petfinder. Why not take every opportunity to get each and every orphan seen by the public?

People have different tastes when it comes to dogs, so you need to put a wide variety of dogs on petfinder, including older dogs.

Also, put info about the dogs like age, temperment, weight, any known history, and name the dog as well.

Some people want the under dog, some people want the pure breds, and some want a little heinz 57, while still others are looking for big dogs.

Hope this helps!

just put on petfinders how many dogs u have and invite ppl to come look at them with the family. arrange for ppl to have a quiet area to interact with the dog they chose, see if they get along with the kids make sure everyone likes the dog, has enough time for them to make sure they won't just end up in a shelter again. also make sure all the dogs are safe for adopting, not the ones that get along with adults but will try and bite kids or likes females but not males. so definatly ask a lot of questions and know all the details about the dog and as much of the history of it as possible

It all depends. If I were living in a house, I would look for any dog that would fit my schedule and be good with people and other pets. Color doesn't really matter to me. If I had an apartment, I would look for a smaller, more quiet dog. I think that you should put them all on petfinder, someone could be looking for a dog that most people wouldn't want and they wouldn't be able to find him because no one put him up. Good luck finding them homes! Petfinder is a great site!

People have different wants/needs/desires and look for different things in dogs. Why don't you try putting all the dogs on petfinders and letting people pick the dog which they think is best based on their needs/wants/desires/ and what they look for. I know when adopted my dog out there were 4 applicants that wanted her and I was the fifth perhaps fourth and they let me adopt her. I think because they liked my answers and that I had a lot of time available (she was 4 months). GOod Luck

you need to find if the dog has anything wrong with it, look at the size, the breed, when the last time the dog seen a vet, the shots updates, how old the dog is, where did they find this dog and so on.........
after that it's up to you what size dog you want and how much time you can spend after you get this dog, you need to remember this to, if you have any other dogs how will they react to a new dog being in their home, and if you are ready to spend some money on visits to the vet for other things needed as well.
now it's up to you.study what kind of dog is best for you to have and one more thing to look at, is where you live, if you rent will they let you have a dog and what the cost of having one there or if you live in your own house can this dog live inside or outside.
things for you to think about.

Most rescues and shelters list every dog they have on petfinder.com. The best thing you can do is type a thorough description for each dog that you list......any tricks they know, if they are friendly with children, are they good in apartments, etc.

The color and breed doesn't matter. Just list as many dogs as you can with complete descriptions to increase their chances of adoption.

You put them all on there!!!

Someone may be just checking out your site let them see everything. If you are on petfinders In sure you actually use pet point for microchip tracking and adoption tracking. This allows the insurance to immediately take affect when someone is adopted.

If you are new to petfinders please let me know I will do my best to help you with all its great resources to help pets. Its not a site for any hilljack to get rid of their animals as it has been suggested on here. It is for rescues and shelters - Non profit organizations. (It needs to limit to 501(3) c)

Send me the link to you shelter here is ours.
