I used to have this happen to me all the time and 98% of the time there was no girlfriend. The two main reasons were the guy was attracted to but afraid of being rejected.or fear of the girl they are chatting with think that just because they have a conversation with a girl that their is an instant commitment and they do not want to deal with the drama (you probably have at least one girl you are friends with that calls dibs on any guy that says "Hi" to them and thinks the guy is madly in love with them...this is the type I am talking about).
They say "I have a girlfriend" upfront because a girl is more likely girl will have an actual conversation with them because they are not trying to get into our pants. The other reason is if they start chatting with you and get the vibe that you are too clingly, possessive, or just don't have the same interests and priorities (or is psycho).
For the ones that do have have girlfriends, you are just a pawn for the fellas ego to see how many women he can have interested in him, which is usually spawned from a deep-rooted fear of being alone - these are the ones to avoid at all costs.

There's nothing that says you have to have only 1 b/f or g/f unless you've made an agreement to go steady.

First thing would be to find out how much of
a relationship they have right now. then ask them if they plan on seeing both of you or he or she just hot to trot. Maybe they think your easy and would not mind.

can t start to answer this question, different reasons maybe they are cheaters, players, no girlfriend, horny, drunk, misleaded, deceived and maybe you are hot, smashing, beautifil, a sight to see, easy, misleaded, deceived, big ****, great ***....on and on and on who really knows the riddle we call human brain and its main power source its instinct and desirs so...it could be anyone of those
