courgette

I think that those here who suggested that a zucchini is known as a Courgette are more accurate than it being the same as a cucumber. I cougette is a squash whereas a cucumber is firmer and not like a squash at all.

Why don't you just use zucchini? It's not that hard to get one and I don't think there's too many vegetables that substitute for one. I'm Jamaican, and I wasn't aware that Jamaicans even grew zucchinis. I think if a Jamaican had to call a zucchini something, it would be "zucchini."

your best substitute would be a "courgette" as thats just another name for zucchini. Americans say zucchini but in Europe its know as a corgette. Hope this helps
