Eerr because there are too many people living in it? A recent yahoo answer suggested it was 47th on a population density count. Don't shoot me. I'm only the messenger. Big difference between truth, lies, damn lies and statistics.

There are actually 3 countries more crowded. Bangladesh, South Korea and the Netherlands.
I agree with the post above that there is a limited amount of space, a lot of Immigration and simply, a lot of desire to be in the UK.

Is it over-populated?
Well, actually maybe it is. I went to Bluewater yesterday and it seemed as though the whole of Kent had done the same.
Maybe people don't know how to use contraceptives anymore.

I think it's because the british government will give benefits to people who have just arrived in this country so lots of people come here! When they arrive they are entitled to the same benefits as we are and get lots of help with housing, money etc! Try going to live elsewhere in the world and see what help other governments give............................!!!

There are a number of reasons. Yes we have a flawed immigration service. We also make it too easy for residents of the UK, whatever their race or colour to freeload off society.
If the taxman is paying for the food and clothing (and playstations) then there is no reason not to breed like rabbits.
If we made it more difficult for scroungers this would go someway to alleviating the cycle of scrounge - precreate - scrounge - abdicate responsibility - scrounge - etc

It's too small to accommodate the people coming from the defunct Empire whom they ripped off for centuries.

It's basically to do with having a lot of people on a small island.
