Well, get this: I'm 18 and have been single my entire life! There are times when I wish I had a boyfriend, but I realized that I just like the thrill of the chase. I like fantasizing rather than having to deal with the real thing. I like the freedom. My single girlfriends enjoy themselves. My single guy friends say they'd rather concentrate on their studies. At first I thought that was kinda nerdy of them to say, but their reason, according to most of your responses, is valid. Don't be so down in the dumps by this and don't go searching for someone. When the right person comes along, you'll know.

You will garner more respect than a 17 year old
You can fight for your country
You can marry without your parents' permission
You don't need a parent to get you into a movie
Although it is not advisable, you still have the stamina to stay up all night and then go to work or school the next morning
You can write your own absence note for school

No commitments! You can be young and free! People change a lot for a partner at that age so take the time to get to know yourself. May sound lame but you'll find someone who loves you for you if you can figure out who you are and what you want. You can travel (best time to do it!) without having to think of or pine after a partner.

its good to be single at 18. long way to go . You are still young.. do not hurry to put yourself in a relationship. enjoy life till then.

Go to college. Education = more cha ching and a higher sophistication of thought (if you go for the As. If you get Cs then you don't really learn anything but you do get a piece of paper).

unless u havent found a girl/guy who really loves u, wants to see u happy always, and will do anything to see that smile on ur face. i dont think thers's any good reason to be single.

freedom to have fun with no strings attached
serious relationships are great but they limit you and at 18 you're still finding your way so you need to experience life. i'm 24 and can tell you i am no where near settling down...i enjoy life yeah sometimes i am alone but i enjoy that too, i hate it when i guy starts to try and 'own' me...there are too many ppl and too much out there to see and do....

You're 18!!!!! that's plenty reason enough! you are 18, do your thang, don't worry about being tied down... you should be getting tied up or something fun!

Finding your future is one, getting an education is another, living independently before marriage. All these things makes for a much better future.
