first clean all the litter of the floor than buy a litter box that has a big ridges so the crystals won't fall on the floor than make sure there are no more than 1 fourth of the box

Step 1)

Get a bigger litter box to prevent litter from spilling out

Step 2)

If this continues, change the litter to a diffrent product (You can buy this at your local super market)

Step 3)

If changing the litter dosn't work, try changing it to a whole diffrent product (sand, pebbles, or newspapers)

Step 3 A)

It's possible that newspaper is the best solution, you could either replace the litter with newspapers or place the newspaper over the litter -- Retraining your cat to use the litter box again may be needed.

Step 4)

If Step 2 & 3 don't work for you try to prevent your cat from nibbling the litter by;

A) Flicking him/her on the nose everytime he/she consumes a large amount of litter

A1) Try not to flick her to hard -- A light tap on the nose will do.

B) Spraying her with water everytime he/she consumes a large amount of litter

C) When you see her about to eat an amount of litter swipe the litter away and move her away from the litter box and place her in front of her cat food

Now to prevent the litter stones from falling on the floor you could:

A) Put paper tissues, toilet paper, (Ect) around the litter box to prevent them from falling on the floor.

B) Put small paper bowls and cups around the litter box to catch the litter stones (You might want to cover the tops with foil and pluck holes in them for the litter to fall in so your cat dosnt get into it)

C) Wedge your litter box between something so they dont get out that easily.

C1) Example:

My cat's litter box is wedged between the toilet and sink, everytime my cat brushes the litter outside the box it bounces off the toilet/sink and falls back into the litter box

D) Get heavier litter stones

E) Try putting less litter stones in the box

Other suggestions:

You could change the litter box to a card board box (Cut down the sides a bit so your cat can get in)

Take your cat to the vet, the litter stones could have harmed her a bit, better to be safe then sorry!

Good luck!

Try a cat toilet, it'll stop any litter coming out of the box. you may want to comsult a vet too to make sure your cat hasn't any medical problems.

You should probably talk to your vet, there may be something wrong. It was the first sign I had that my cat was ill, he'd never done it before and was also licking rusted metal railings.

you know those ugly plasticy door mats that are green and sometimes have daisies on them?

put one of those at the entrance to the litter box and the litter will get trapped in it.

Our cat had exactly the same problem. Sprinkling (or soaking) chilli powder or pepper on the cat litter seemed to work wonders.
