it happens, she's a dog. You could take her to a vet; it could be cavities on her teeth..

Don't give her Polos. Those are meant for Humans with bad breath, not dogs. That's probably why they haven't been working for you.
There are specially formulated treats that are designed to freshen dog's breath. For example, with our dog we use the Pedigree Breath Buster treats - they have a bit of parsley and eucalyptus in them which helps to keep your dog's breath fresh. The link to buy them via Petsmart.com is below.
Also, be sure you brush their teeth, with specially formulated toothpaste for dogs at least once a week (once every other day is better, but our dog HATES getting her teeth brushed - she'd rather just lick the paste off the brush and chew the bristles - so we only do it once a week.
It works for us - hope this is helpful for you. If the breath is still really bad, try talking to your vet (be sure you let them know what you've been doing to remedy the situation so he doesn't send you home with a "feed them these treats" or "brush their teeth" order). If the really bad breath is still persistent it may be an indicator of an underlying oral health problem (some gum infection, etc...)
Good luck!

Yes, do not giver her polo mints. They are more likely then not to harm her. Also, do NOT feed your dog greenies. They can get clogged up in your dogs intestine (and they don't really make her breath smell good anyway).
Try buying her doggie breath mints. We did that for my dog and his breath would smell like mint for a few hours.
And you should check with your vet, bad breath could very well mean tartar build up (old food that got stuck in her teeth). If she does have it, and you treat it now, it will save you much heart-ache and money down the line.

Clean your dog's teeth!!!! There are also things called denta-rasks you can get that help clean your dog's teeth (there are probably other things you can get too - have a look in your local shop). If all else fails, take her to the vet to get checked out in case there's something wrong with her mouth. Our dog had an infected tooth. By the way, stop giving her polo mints. Think of all the sugar in them!!

She's a dog. Of course her breath stinks. Why do you think "dogbreath" is a term of abuse?
And don't give her polo mints - they'll rot her teeth.
You can get dog treats that are supposed to be breath freshening. You could try those.
Or just put up with it!

She could have an infected tooth or gum infection that would make her breath bad. Or she could be eating crap, like dogs are wont to do :-)
The vets can take a look at her teeth and clean them. You can also get dog toothbrushes and toothpaste and clean them yourself after the vet has done the initial inspection.
Also, watch what she eats. My sister's dogs run out into the horse pasture, eat a bunch of manure - the fresh, extra-smelly kind - and then run up to you wagging their tails frantically and trying to lick you. (arg) There isn't going to be a lot you can do about that. Dogs are dogs when it comes to horse crap. :-)
Best of luck with your pup.

Bad breath in dogs is caused from bad teeth or a digestive problem. A healthy dogs breath doesn't really stink. See a vet.

First of all, stop feeding her wet foods. Surely you know how bad that is for her teeth. Secondly, check her teeth. Are they covered in tartar. If so, get her to the vet to have her teeth cleaned. Dogs can get serious illnesses if their teeth aren't looked after. Her teeth also need regular brushing. Get a small, soft toothbrush and dog toothpaste and brush her teeth regularly after they're cleaned.

Have her checked by the vet. It could be a dental problem (plaque, gingivitis, oral cancer, etc.) or it could be a kidney or heart problem. Have the dog checked to rule out a medical reason. Also, the vet sells a product called C.E.T. Chews. This helps keep the dogs teeth clean and has chlohexidine, an antimicrobial.

Dog breath stinks.....period. Some may be more bothered by it then others but to me, if a dog's breath doesn't smell like dog breath, lets just say that would be kinda weird. If however your dog breath stinks like rot it could be one of his teeth is rotting in his mouth. A vet should take a look.

Brush her teeth with doggy toothpaste at least once per month. But before you get her on a regular teeth cleaning schedule at home, get her teeth cleaned at the vet. Warning: it is expensive at the vets but it will give you a good start to do it yourself.
