i think you should learn about different religions, both in what they say they believe then how they actualy apply it to life,,,, think within your heart,,, and go with the one you feel most strongly about, that "seems" right to you, that you are comfortable with,,,,,,,, make sure and dont limit your research to just the few "mainstream" religions,, there is much more out there, many variations,,,,

I have often wondered about this. I agree with the others and say research and do not listen to others who already believe in a religion, because they have already made up their mind and can only give you advice from which they know.

I often go right back to find the oldest religion. If you truly believe in a God, then surely the beginning of faith is a good place to start.

I don't think any God cares particularly what we believe, as long as our behaviour is good, just and kind.

Try the website I have provided, they have information on all religions, from Christianity to Sikhism.

Dear Simon,

It is important to differentiate between religion which is man-made and Relationship which comes through Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Relgion is limited even though most have bits and pieces of truth. Relationship with the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe is unlimited.

If you want to find out about what happens after death let me suggest a couple of books. I'm going to finish reading 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. It is a true story and an excellent description of heaven by somebody who was dead for 90 minutes.

Another good description of heaven is found in The Great Divorce, a One-Way Trip for Some, a Round-Trip for Others by C.S. Lewis.

Our heavenly Father wants us to support, to go with the Truth. We need His help to find that. But He says "Draw near to me and I will draw near to you." It isn't about "chances" it is a sure "thing".

A couple of years ago I really enjoyed listening to the Cat and Dog Theology cds. Have you heard of the 4 cd set? It differentiates between Dogs who go towards heaven because they want to know God for Himself and Cats who are not going towards God but backing away from hell. The message is good and it is told in a very humorous way.

How do I know which religion is right?
This is a difficult question to answer because it involves discussing some principles that the person you are witnessing to may or may not agree with. For example, does he or she agree with you that truth is knowable, that God would attempt to communicate with His people, or that only one religion may be right? Usually, I start by acknowledging the difficulty of coming to an easy answer. However, I tell them that I do have an answer; I am sure it is the right one, because it is an answer based on evidence. What kind of evidence? Prophecy and its fulfillment (see question # 34), Jesus and His miracles, the resurrection of Christ, etc. Then I ask that person if he or she knows of these things happening in other religions.(1) The answer is invariably, "No." Then I point out that they have only happened in Christianity. If any religion were true, Christianity fits the bill.
Religion is whatever you feel is right.
How do you know what you feel is right? Haven't your feelings ever turned out to be wrong? Are you are saying that what you feel determines truth? If so, then you are putting yourself in the place of God, and looking to yourself for what you "feel" is right.
If religion is whatever you feel is right, then that could lead to chaos. What if some people had a religion where they felt stealing was acceptable? And what about lying and cheating? Would you trust someone who believed in a religion that felt it was alright to steal, lie, and cheat?
Hitler felt killing Jews was right. He was wrong. The Bible says that the heart is deceitful and untrustworthy (Jer. 17:9). If you could come to know truth by what you felt, then the Bible, which is the revelation of God, didn't need to be written. But, it has been written, and it has revealed that only God is the Source of truth, not your feelings.
I've never known truth to contradict itself. What if someone felt that something was right, and another person felt it was wrong? Would they both be right? If your statement is true, then how could there be a contradiction like that, if feelings determined truth?
All religions are different paths to the same place.
If all religions are different paths to the same place, then why do the paths contradict each other? Does truth contradict itself? Let's review the teachings of just three religions:
Buddhism is pantheistic and says there is no personal God and everyone can reach Godlikeness on his own. Islam says that Jesus was just a prophet, and not the only way to God. Christianity says that there is a personal God, and that the only way to Him is through Jesus (John 14:6). If these three religions are, as you say, different paths to the same place, then why do they contradict each other? Does truth contradict itself?

the Religion which you believe in your heart is the correct one. GOD is to big to be in only one place. there are many paths and ways to get to ones destination as one can walk, ride a bike, a motorcycle, take a bus, a train, a plane, etc. etc. and still arrive at the same destination. getting there is the important thing -- not how. the only basic differences in one Religious Belief System and another are the NAMES they refer to GOD as along with the differences in the Rituals and Ceremonies which are performed to Adore, Honor, Praise, Worship, Pray to and Petition, Thank, etc, etc. GOD

I just lost my brother to end stage liver disease at the age of 52 and most of his life he thought he was God,very agnostic. When I got to the hospital and went in where his body was there was a necklace with a cross on it around his neck that his daughter said he made out of brass. The reason for this to to say you and everyone else will humble to the Lord Jesus either in this life or later at judgment day,it would be good for your soul to do it while their is still time.

If you are a Christian, James 1:27 says that the form of religion that is clean and undefiled is to help the unfortunate, such as widows and orphans, and remain clean from the defilements of the world.

You don't need an organized religion to do what is right.

Go with the one that best fits your view of the world now. And if you want to try some creative thinking that you control, not others, give the absence of religion a try.

Pluralism leads to relativism. Not all faiths are equal. The truth in the Bible stands alone. Do a comparative study and see which faith is more supported by science, archeology, historocity and prophecy. The Bible stands alone leaving all others in the dust.
