It depends on how you would view the word "best". It may have something to do with the technological aspect or practicality.

I consider the Russian T34 Tank as the best tank in World War2. This is the tank that won the Soviets the war against the Germans. The reason here is practicality. The T34 tank is actually simple in design (the German Tiger and Panther are more sophisticated in their designs). The T34 used only two chassis variants. The vehicle interior is cramped, with human comfort sacrificed in favor of more space for ammunitions. The air-ventilation is crude and no air-conditioning whatsoever. The turret mechanism and the engine are also very simple designs. However, this idea of simplicity had its own advantages, as what have been proven in actual combat. Because of design simplicity, they were simple to manufacture as well. They were produced in mass quantities, about 2,000 units in one month. Compare this with the Tigers or Panthers that trickled from German factories at the rate of 300 units in one month. In the field, the T34 is simpler to maintain. The T34 mechanic has to deal only with a few moving parts. When the needed part is not available, it can be easily taken from another disabled tank. This was not just possible with Tigers and Panthers, because they have many variants of the same design, and spare parts are frequently not interchangeable. The Panthers and Tigers also consists of complicated mechanisms, that in case of malfunctions, are not so easy to repair. The T34, was also used for whatever purpose the Russians can think of. It's not unusual to see T34's towing trucks and artillery pieces, carrying ammunition boxes chained to its flat-deck, bulldozing walls and barriers, carrying troops, purposes for which the Germans would have used more specialized equipments. The T34 also have a sloping armor, with the shells hitting it at an angle simply bouncing off. It also have wider tracks that enables it to go through thick snow and mud, without being stuck.

The Russian T-34 was the best well protected and easily up gunned and extremely reliable. It was also fast and with it's wide tracks didn't get bogged down as easily as other tanks. It other most useful feature was that it could be massed produced in massive numbers 57,000 only the Sherman had production numbers this big. The design was also the 1st to have all round sloped armor. The tank started life with a 76.2mm gun which was up gunned to 85mm when the tigers and panthers showed up. This allowed the T-34 to still lock horns with these giants and still come out on top. The design was produced from 1940-1958 a production run that long has to say something about how useful this tank was.

According to a retired German tank soilder. The T-34. He said it was the best tank of that itme. And that's coming form a German who drove the Panther or some other German tank. The T-34 was used by his enemies The Russians.
The T-34 has sloped armour. It deflects hits and only absorbs 50% of the hit. It was the fastest tank at the time, It used less material to make it. It wasn't as big as the other tanks. It's easy to operate and drive, it's gun is longer and therefore hits a target more accurately, it heats up faster, easier to manufacture,it has a longer range or better fuel economy.
I watched something about tanks of world war 2. The Germans thought it was primitive and made fun of it. But, when their tanks got destroyed or froze in the Russian winter. They had to abandon it. Sometimes they'd find abandoned Russian tanks or got a T34 by ambushing it's crew. They just painted a white cross on it and used it.

The tiger was the best tank of the war. it had the best armament and the best armour, although tactics by the russians limited this in the eastern front. by engaging At full speed and close quarters the T34 was faster and more manouverable and had succes in certain battles with the tiger. The Germans introduced the King Tiger towards the end of the war, this was to be even better than the tiger but not enough was made to make an impact on the war.British and american tanks where no match for tigers although upgrades in the main guns helped their armour was inferior.

Best designs!

USA: Sherman
UK: Matilda 2
USSR: T34
Japan: I'm unsure
German: Panther

those been the major nations

As for the smaller ones
The Czech P38 (i think that's the name) That later became the German Panzer 38 was considered a very good design!

Many other nations used converted versions of major nations designs eg the 7tp a polish light tank based on the British 6 ton tank.

Over all the T34 as that design continued on long after the war in some form or another.

T-34 was the best because it was the most prolific tank on the most important front of the war. Its sloped armour, its simplicity in production and maintenance turned the tide in the East.

The German response to the T-34 was the Panther (Mark V) tanks which were powerful, but too few to change the course of the war.

My personal favorite is the King Tiger, but again, too little and too late. The most prolific German Tank was the Mark IV which was my second choice to the T-34.

The "Tommy-cookers" of the Americans were a joke.

The T-34 from Russia. It introduced sloped armor and had a larger gun and wider treads than the German tanks of the time (better in mud - a real factor on the Eastern Front). The Russians also produced huge numbers of them. By the end of the war the Germans had better tanks (Tiger & Panther), but they came too late and never in enough numbers to make a difference.

"Panther tank
) was a tank of Germany in World War II that served from mid-1943 to end of the war in Europe in 1945. It was intended as a counter to the T-34, and to replace the Panzer IV and III, though it served along with them and the heavier tanks until the end of the war. It is considered the best tank of WWII alongside the Soviet T-34/85."

For its own characteristics German heavy tank Pzkw VI "Tiger", some units equipped with Tigers had a kill ratio exceeding 10:1, for example 13' Kompanie/Panzer-Regiment of Grossdeutschland had a kill rateo of 16.67:1.
But Tiger was not widely diffused in normal tank units(1350 Tiger I and 500 better Tiger II). Also Russian heavy tank IS-2 "Stalin"(3500 built) was very good.
But the best widely produced and used tank was Russian medium (medium-heavy is a better definition) tank T-34.(58000 built).
