Several things can do this because computers can be so temperamental ;)
Heres a few:
1. CPU overheating
2. Cables not connected properly to the computer or wall
3. you accidently clicked the "shut down" key on the keyboard
4. Ram is not seated properly
5. connections faulty
6. windows is conflicting or corrupt and crashing windows
7. faulty bios or cmos
8. a virus
9. faulty motherboard
10. chip creep
as you can see potentially there could be 101 things but my first assumption would be my best bet. Overheating can cause a lot of problems.
Maintenance: Keep the inside and outside of your pc clean, clear and at room temperature i.e. clean inside with canned compressed air; dont block the air flow in and out from the pc, keep the pc away from direct sunlight & air the room. Ensure all cards and are seated (take them out and put them back; this eliminates chip creep). Use software that can monitor the temperature and other parts of your pc including a good antivirus

You did not include many details, but I will take a stab at it. Fist, when does your shutdown occur, when the computer is on for a while, are you using a certain program when the shutdown occurs? Your system could be shutting down because the processor has exceeded its thermal limits and the system shuts down to protect the processor from thermal damage. Not sure what lead you to remove the RAM, but it is most likely not the cause of your problem. Your system could also have a corrupt operating system which could cause an unexpected shutdown. Try and provide more details and we might be better able to give you a definitive answer. Good Luck

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
