And he hasn't called me yet. Had a text from him at 3am (out drunk) saying chat later, spoke at length last night. I am wondering whether to bother him or just leave it, first date stuff you know, do not want to appear desperate. God damn it!!!

just hang in there hun.....that date will happen....but i would nip the late night calls in the bud especially when he's drunk, maybe turn your phone off before you go to bed.....good luck and i hope you have a great time....cheers!

Don't call him. In my experience, men like the chase... my boyfriend chased me for 2 months before i finally decided to go out witih him. Wait and see when he calls you, and just act really cool. It's obvious that you were on his mind last night, even though a text at 3am is not usually welcomed.
He's also going to feel a little worse for wear so let him get over his hangover then if you haven't hear anything by late afternoon say 5pm-ish, drop him a text and say "just thought i'd see how you were, and not lying in some gutter somewhere"
Try not to come across as being desperate like you say, you don't need him...HE NEEDS YOU! good luck hunny x

I wouldnt bother calling him hun. However if you dont hear anything by about an hour before you're due to meet him Id send a text saying that you presume your date isnt going ahead due to teh fact he hasnt called.
Do you even want to be with someone that is out drinking till that hour?? xx

just leave it, don't try to contact him. Look on the bright side he maybe thinking the same as you and can't even remember txtin last night. Turn up for your date, if he is a no show he is prob not good enough for you anyway.

make alternative plans he'll be in no fit state to do anything,text him nice & friendly saying he's having a good time so carry on and you'll meet up another time...he'll either stop drinking(game on) or think you best thing since sliced bread....win-win darlin'

he may be embarrassed about his drunken text and unsure about contacting you.
