I have taken paxil and lexapro. I would have to say that lexapro is the best.... that I have taken (few side effects). But perhaps you should consult a doctor. Medication reacts differently on different people. It's just a matter of finding something that helps you and is easy on side effects. Only a doctor can help you with this.

Fluoxetin Chloridrate, which is Prozac, but, this type of medicine should be carefully taken, so you should go to a good doctor firs and ask for advice. Besides that, consider your condition carefully prior to taking anti-depressants, I on the other hand would only recommend you practicing pleasant physical activities, like swimming, dancing, jogging, or even boxing... Physical activities and sports have cientifficaly the power to make our body release endorfins, what cold perfectly be a cure for mild cases of depression. Regards, Gabriel.

I have taken effexor after taking lots of other things (welbutrin, paxil, zoloft, desyrel, lexapro) and effexor is the only thing that works well for me. It is good to talk to a doctor because they can decide what you should do. Some people don't even need to take medication. Some people do well with exercise or even light therapy or counseling. Also your doctor could tell you that you need to take not just an antidepressant but also an anti-anxiety drug.

If your dr. said you are depressed he should ask you if you want to take a medication for it. You cant just treat yourself some of these drugs arent good they can become addicting or not right for you. I was on zoloft and it made me worse, i had alot of mood swings, made my anxiety worse, i stopped taking it. Then was put on amatriptaline stopped taking that also im now on celexa and ativan its been going good so far few side affects like dry mouth, i can deal with that. But i think your dr. would know best for you.

I strongly agree with Pani, you need to have a doctor diagnose depression and prescribe a medicine. Self medication is NOT the way to go.

depression is a terribly hard thing to overcome --- but if you are reliant on drugs --- it can have just as devastating a result .
seek help from a counsellor before you make a decision . good luck . and merry Xmas and a good new year .

-well, has the depression been diagnosed? treatment[ as you said pills] for depression is a definitive diagnosis rather than a presumptive..i insist on it,as the medicines used to treat it, have many side-effects. few of them have profound adverse effects..

Everyone I know has taken Lexapro and had good results. Also, if you dont have health insurance Celexa is essentially the same thing but there is a generic.
