Consumerism has two meanings one old and one new. In the olden days it was meant 'the militancy of consumers against the erring vendors'. The champion of Consumerism in US was Ralph Nader who went against many gian corporations like GM etc;.
Nowadays of globalization it is said to be the overconsumption of goods and services. You can choose which ever you feel ok.

It must be from those peoplewho have extra money.. I don't practice consumerism I am usually broke all the time!
