They didn't predict the world would end.
If I remeber correctly it is that the Mayan calendar ends in December of 2012. That doesn't mean that the world will end, it just means that that is a far out as they ran a timeline before their civilization ended.
But if you really want to worry about things you cannot control, you can leave your home today and be run over by a bus.
Which means that your world would end today (or tomorrow, or next year).

Actually, 2012 is just the newest date since 2000 did not pan out as the end of the world. However, 2012 could possibly be the end of the world but it is not probable or plausible if all prophecies are considered and based on current world events.
Additional note, 2012 according to the Mayans indicated an alignment of Alpha and Omega in the Universe with our galaxy and and the planet earth for what they called the tree of life. It indicates a rebirth of the age or cycle of the age which could be physical, or spiritual or on several planes creating new life. It means and end of an age (eon) or epoch and not necessarily the physical world as we know it -- although that is always possible. Other prophecies indicate that this time is fertile for conception of a new consciousness which will herald the coming of a new world but does not actually represent the disappearance of this present physical one, yet ( more comprehensive synthesis of such data indicates a more likely date in the late 2020's to early 2030's if it is to happen in this century.

The end of the world has been predicted by so many people, cultures and religions throughout history I don't see how anyone can take it seriously anymore, Christians claimed it would end in the year 1000 then again in 1033. Guess what? We're still here.
Wise up.

People have predicted the end of the earth, and people have been wrong. The world "could" end in 2012, but I'm not worried about it.

No. Some ancients predicted it would end 2 years ago. Last year some fool predicted there would be nuclear holecost that would wipe out the entire human race this year. Hasn't happened, doesn't look like it will. So no i don't think it will. Try 2,000,000,000 AD.

oh for petes sake. I have heard that the world is going to end at midnight new years eve every single year of my life. No one can predict when the world will end but when it does I hope it goes out with a bang so people will not suffer.

the world will probably not end in 2012 as there have been so many misinterpretations as to what the Mayans are actually saying.

Not end - just change. The earth plane and those who are ready will rise to 4th density around 12/12/12.
Enjoy...

That's just when their calendar ends. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world.
