Talk to him. If you feel he's too intense--ask him what he expects from you and work with him. He got to where he is at for a reason. Respect him and admire him.

Be grateful to have the opportunity to work with a person like that...they will, inevitably, make you a stronger person and improve your business skills immeasurably. My best advice is to book a meeting with him/her, with a set time and duration. Perhaps even let them know the purpose of the meeting, so that they can be prepared (shows you respect their time.) In that meeting, let them know that you would like to understand their expectations of you. Tell them that you would like to set a goal list for 1 month, 6 months and 1 year...and would like to be sure that they line up with his/her expectations. It will be highly respected, and you will be amazed at how much information you will gain from them. Good luck!

Show him that you have a fervour for your job. Strive your best to improve your work etiquette. That way, however your job turns out, he will not scold you too harshly but approve of such a passionate employee.
