what is the bumped part called under your nose. im talking bout the one above your upper lip.

Also, what is the point of it i.e. what function, if any, does it perform?

its called the feltrum (not sure the spelling)

I don't know what it is for but I'm guessing that its so that when your nose runs you get two straight tracks to your mouth rather than a gushing river!!

it is a combination of the first three answerer's attempts to spell it , i cover mine with a moustache and i cant spell it either.
