I go on natwest.com, which loads up easily enough, but when i click on the online banking link, the page tries to load up for about 20mins (unsuccessfully) and then the browser (IE7) just closes. Someone help please, this is really annoying, it just suddenly started happening one day and its been like that for weeks. and it only happens on my laptop

Maybe it's the browser. Try installing another browser (I've heard lots of bad things about IE7). Firefox Mozilla is good.

Just a suggestion.

Hmm it sounds like there are two possible culprits.

1) Natwest website is rubbish- from speaking to friends they have also had problems with the site, but it seems HSBC is much better for online service-more secure, no IT issues.

2)Browser may be playing up. I have just uninstalled IE7 and reverted back to IE6 (go to start, control panel, add or remove programs and click on change/remove for IE7).

Hope you manage to resolve it, there is nothing more frustrating than wanting to check/do a simple thing with you account but be faced with ridiculous unexpected barriers.

That's because Natwest has been hacked again due to their pisspoor security. If I were you, I'd transfer your account to a different bank that at least give you decent interest on your current account. I have similar problems with Abbey and now that I have changed to Alliance and Leicester, I no longer have problems using internet banking and I am getting a decent rate of ineterest from them. Hope this helps. J.

I don't think it has anything to do with IE7, it happened to me when I still had IE6.
I don't know what the problem is but I noticed that if I navigate through their website before clicking on 'log in' then it works...
Just go through 3 or 4 pages and you should be fine.

That's because Natwest's security is a shambles and someone just hacked their site.

Don't bother asking Natwest to confirm this. They'll just deny it.

im with em, I had to leave HSBC as split with ex, they have a fantastic online service- change banks to hsbc if you can. its worth it. Telephone banking is great too. Oh and they are clever enough to put ur ACCOUNT NUMBER on ur card and cheque book!
