unfortunatly this bhp that you speak of is an abreviation of BOLT-ON HORSEPOWER not british horsepower. now BMWs come pretty tuned from the factory so bolting on mods like you have will not do much. the best thing that you can do to seriously boost the horsepower is to add a supercharger or turbocharger. if its overall power that you seek, turbo is the only way to go.

Have you considered a turbo system? There are things that an engine need to acquire optimal horsepower.
The first is intake and exhaust work which you have already started doing.
You didn't state what intake system and exhaust components you changed .
First off intake and exhaust system need to be free flowing systems.
Turbo charging your car along with performance computer upgrading will net you the most gain.
I would suggest looking around for a Dino shop in your area as they will have more suggestions than myself to get the most horsepower out of your car.

The BMW engines/vehicles are pretty well tuned from the factory, so their intake/exhaust systems where probably well-suited to the performance aspect. If you want to go above that, you'll most likely need to get a computer controller (or chip), and go after things like adjustin the Fuel pressure regulator/injectors for starters, otherwise port/polish the heads, or adding forced induction.

Either throw a turbo/supercharger on your BMW or a computer programmer, or 100 shot of NOS. Like said above, BMW's come tuned from the factory.
