I'm on the other side of things - I own a business and therefore am in control of how the company treats employees. I don't understand why companies WOULDN'T want happy employees. So we have lots of benefits.
And especially around this time of year it's nice to have a bit extra spending money.
Our policy is that in December we estimate what our year's profit will be, and half of that goes back into the company (increased stock, new machinery, upgraded fixtures, etc.), and half go to the employees. Most of the employee's part is given to them in IRA deposits (employee-controlled retirement savings accounts) which has a maximum cap by tax law. The rest gets given to them as their Christmas bonus.
As our profits vary, so do the bonuses. Sometimes we get very little though usually it amounts to several hundred dollars per person. And I get the same amount! No favoritism for the boss!
I'm spending mine on a Wii for my son for Christmas.... If I can find one!

My boyfriend's Christmas bonus is a 20lb turkey. He lives with his housemate who gets the same bonus (works at the same chicken processing plant; and he can eat his all himself XD), and he is taking me to his mum's for his Christmas dinner. He can't be bothered to take it, and he doesn't get a cash alternative. :(
My mum's Christmas bonus last year was a real Christmas tree. She donated it to a colleague's sister who'd had a hard time after she'd lost her husband in an accident (he was a fireman), as they have a perfectly good fake tree.

Not only do we not receive any bonuses we now don't get our holiday turkey, christmas party nor even a christmas card as we had for many years. We don't need it to have a great holiday though, because it is about family and not money, so I am far from monetarily wealthy but, I am richer than the CEO. Happy Holidays

No. I got laid off without the possibility of getting called back. I didn't even get paid for the 5 weeks of vacation that I never used. My last check was short by about 60 dollars. The good news is I found a better job.

I got £100 - by the time tax and NI got deducted it works out at more like £70.....
I expect it'll get spent on booze, food and a few drinks down the pub at the end of work tomorrow and on Christmas Eve!

I don't know if we get one. I think full time people get $20 Walmart/Target gift cards but I'm not sure if part-time people get them too. I know about them cuz I'm mailing them out. But I did get overtime this week so should have extra money on my check for extra hours the week after Christmas. My dad gets a $5,000 bonus. Lucky him.

I got £200 extra pounds (about $400) which was SO handy but spent it quite quickly!
Apparently, a trader from Goldman Sachs got a £50 million bonus.
Sickening.
